The kill count/injury count is too low for an "all in" mass shooter. When you look at something like El Paso Walmart, Uvalde, Virginia Tech, or Parkland, their goal is to kill as many people as possible before their ammo runs out or they get domed by a police sniper, and most of the time escaping is not an option. He killed two people, injured a few more, and then fled. It suggests that someone was specifically targeted, but by someone with neither the skill for a clean assassination or the understanding that the less people you involve, the better.

They could announce that the students are free to leave the building and go to a safe evacuation point such as a stadium or inside basketball court.

Could this be the first actual time where they decline to pursue prosecuting, arresting, even investigating a murder because of fear of racial violence and riots?

We have been moving towards this for years. We basically ended social distancing and public gathering COVID protocols to allow people to protest George Floyd's death for that exact reason, because if they forbade it we probably would have had a race war.

The pressure from the school and Democrat politicians on the police to drop this must be intense. If it goes for a couple days without catching or even identifying the shooter, I wonder if there will be opinion pieces about how catching this guy won't bring back the dead so why bother?

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread yet, but to give you a grasp of how much a shitshow this is, none of the locals have been given any alert of this shooting by the city nor state. Normally when there's a major situation (snow storm, bridge closure, bomb threat, etc), phones get an automatic notification. Only Brown University sent out notifications, so everyone in that area either had to be watching the news, or got warrned by the students. And that area gets a lot of pedestrians. Drivers were passing by out of courtsey to tell people to turn around.

Perhaps I'm just being autistic about the meaning, but "revenge" shooting to me connotes rage against a certain person or persons, whereas "mass shooting" is more a fuck all y'all-type rage against a generalised group, idea, or institution.
