You pretty much have to cast a cis actor as trans, for the same reason they had to cast a perfectly healthy man to play Stephen Hawking: he's got to be able to pull off the "before" part.

In high school, I was part of the band program. This included Pep Band. One of our arrangements was the Rocky theme, and above a couple of bars was the symbol that begins SF's name. I asked the band director why that symbol was there, and he said it was due to a "computer burp."
I guess what I'm saying is that if she doesn't change her name to Erin or something else, I'm gonna start calling her Computer Burp.
