A Native American Christmas Blessing

Myra was gone before I met her. David and Sissy both had sons and Sissy had a daughter. I think sissy is still alive but I'm not finding her anywhere.

Mine isn't the only family named Wasserberg and i'm telling you that nobody has ever mentioned any Simon or spoken of Julius as anything other than an orphan.
Go take a nap, grandpa.

So it's a totally different Wasserberg family that just so happens to all have the same first names. That checks out.

keep trying, cumsquatch.

Yes, other Thomas Wasserbergs exist. Tell me, do they all also have brothers named Jerry as well? And parents named Joan and Gene? If so, that's quite the interesting happenstance. Almost impossible, one might think.

You probably don't want to hear about Julius' sister Pauline then. She was born in Iași less than a year before your family emigrated from Romania.

She married a nice Romanian immigrant named Samuel Weisman in NYC in 1902 and they named one of their sons Julius. And their only daughter was named Theresa. (Also there was Peter and Milton. Hm!)

Edit: Your own great-grandfather Julius' own middle name was Simon, you dork.

Edited to remove the namecalling. I was frustrated but there was no excuse for that.

Tommie, I am a genealogist and finding people's families is my passion. I am offering to do this for you honestly and sincerely.

If you'd prefer to believe family stories rather than discover the truth - while being able to cherish both as part of who you are - then I truly don't know what to say.

I'm sorry.

Post his family tree in a separate thread. You gave him enough chances. :story:

Yep. If he won't face it willingly, I'm sure he'll come by when it's all laid out for him.

I doubt it's his families "stories" but the stuff he made up in his head.

He's probably misremembering and conflating stories. Happens all the time with schizophrenic patients. Everything will be misconstrued and twisted into his delusion of being a victim from a family victims. This is how his persecutory delusion manifests.

Persecutory delusions are also very common among schizophrenics, by the way.

Sorry for the double post, but just to clarify: @Miss Tommie Jayne Wasserberg, you think that there were 2 Wasserberg families in 1905 with the exact same names as each other and immigration dates? That's your argument?
I have no idea what the reason for it is and for all i know, the screen shot was faked. this is the screen i saw and there is no mention of simon, nor was he ever mentioned in my family . Julie was an orphan is the way the family legend goes.

You are most welcome to go for what you know. There was never a mention of any Simon Wasserberg by any member of my family, but i would be happy to present anything you find to others in my family for their opinions.

save the name calling if you want to keep this polite. as i said, none of this is common knowledge in any of my family and I am the one who sat and listened to the elders' stories. It is quite possible that Julius was ostracized from the family and lied to all his offspring and it is also possible that there is a parallel family.

Have you found Allen Wasserberg's marriage to Florence Singer and her parents' lineage yet? Both parents rejected them when they got married, which is why we ended up in Chicago.

Sure, you're right Sigmund Fraud. Go long, bucko. Lay out your diagnostic criteria and maybe your credentials along with that?

I wasn't questioning @Ronnie Rocket 's creds and i am treating that message seriously. I'm challenging the amateur psychiatrist to make a bigger fool of himself. "Normal" people are always fun to read when they're going off about what's wrong with me.

This seems to line up with the information @Ronnie Rocket presented. I'm not an expert like them, but it looks like the document you linked is for Julius S(imon) Wasserberg and the document they provided for you was JS's father, Simon Wasserberg. Using the father's first name as a son's middle name is fairly common, even now.

Even if Simon wasn't an orphan, so what? I think a lot of family legends get started/passed on for various reasons. As RR said, you can appreciate both while accepting facts. Also sorry if I misinterpreted this info RR, I don't have your credentials. Just going out on a limb for the sake of convo.

Edited because my tard finger hit the wrong user in the drop down menu. F.

we're at a point in the discussion where I'm feeling that it's prudent not to speculate further and wait on more data. The two most likely things i see here are a parallel family or Julius was ostracized and lied to his offspring.

Probably the latter, there's many a family that's doctored family history, to save face and the like.
If you've been told a lie by family and taken it in good faith, your part of a big group of people.
Most folk don't feel the need to get all archival to test family lore, they just trust their elders.
