So they just pulled a Steve Harvey...
That is fucking hilarious.

Old people shouldn't announce things from now on.
EDIT: Okay, so it turns out it was less about Beatty being possibly senile and more that he was genuinely confused because he got the wrong envelope.
SJWs all over Twitter are spraying salt everywhere because that "racist" Zootopia beat out Kubo for the OScar.

Weren't they sperging over Kubo because it had mostly white voice actors when it came out?

Also Disney wins every year. Are you really that shocked?

lolwut? I loved Kubo as much as the next animation fan, but I knew it wasn't going to win anything in the Oscars. It won awards elsewhere, but not in the big ones. Besides, wasn't Zootopia praised for its "progressiveness"? How many people actually believed Zootopia was "racist"? This is something I thought was what Sing was being blamed for?

I forgot about The Jungle Book ngl. Probably because I didn't care for the movie, but I won't deny that it didn't deserve the Best Visual Effects, because it did. Although I'm surprised Moana didn't win anything.

Meanwhile, Twitter's rubbing everyone's faces in "black history being made tonight". Something everyone will forget about at the end of the week

Reminds me of the time they all went nuts after the OJ verdict, acting like they won. Reminding them "just exactly what was it that you won?", and their brains go BSOD.

I thought these people would be praising the hell out of this win. If anything, they would've said Angry Birds was racist if it won.

Moonlight won over La La Land after a clusterfuck of a mistake during the big best picture announcement. TBH La La Land is a million times better in every aspect. But fuck white people amirite?
That's pretty much Twitter right now. It's all "lol take that white people, it was so awesome watching them got schooled by the beautiful poc's lolol". It's crossed over into extreme fetishization of black people. Like I'm actually uncomfortable reading them.

Right now, the SJWs are acting like this is a sign from God that it's gonna be nothing but black movies in Hollywood forever, and the White Man had better learn to accept that.

If anyone really wants to make use of a good trolling opportunity, remind these clowns that

1. They won nothing, really.
2. This win will be forgotten about in four weeks tops.

That's the thing--Moonlight is a good film. But it won't be remembered. Unless you're an iconic marvel like Return of the King or Silence of the Lambs or whatever, the win won't mean much. With La La Land, it's a musical and its scenes are prettier on the eyes than just a bunch of on-screen talking. The fact that people remember musical scenes in Disney films is a testament to how long-lasting the genre can be. And I'm sorry, but Moonlight doesn't have anything to it that catches the eyes. It's too politically charged to mean anything in ten years.

I didn't watch La La Land OR Moonlight. Moonlight's win won't help the black man any more than LoTR's Oscar in 2004 helped Hobbits.

Ryan Gosling can't sing tho.

But anyways, I actually watched Moonlight and I can say its not exactly a praise of the black community or a criticism of WhiteOnBlack racism. White people are a non-factor in this film.

The entire film is entirely focused around the unfortunate homophobic environment gay black men usually grow up in and how the main character basically suppresses who he is because of the shitty environment he grew up in, and how he struggles to show any emotion in order to maintain an "image". It was beautifully shot and had an amazing soundtrack full of classical orchestra pieces made for the film.

Ultimately these award shows are inconsequential and are just a way for the industry to "reward" films of note/ masturbate to themselves.

Didn't watch it as I had better things to do, plus, as a European, I didn't want to stay up past 3 in the morning to watch a Hollywood circlejerk.

Only nominees I saw were Hell and High Water, La La Land and Arrival. My personal favourite of the 3 was Hell and High Water although I knew it had about a 0% chance to win.
