The plan was enacted over the inauguration weekend… Only you never saw it.

Francis, his cabinet, and tons of Vatican officials were arrested. Proof of their vast crimes was shown. They were court martialed and found guilty. However, it was decided this was too much for the christian people to accept. Overturning the election and showing the crimes of these politicians could lead to a schism in the church.
So an agreement was reached: Francis and other deep Vatican state elements would be allowed to move freely and serve their terms. Benedict would "concede" and leave the papacy. But this is all for appearances. Behind the scenes, Benedict XVI was still Pope.

This plan, known as Shadowpope, was seen as a last resort. But it worked. Anything that happened during Francis's term was actually Benedict's doing.

No the top two candidates are Peter Erdo (Hungarian chud) and Pietro Parolin (Italian "more of the same" guy). The schizo theory is Pizzaballa an Italian from Jerusalem (born on the same day as Pope Francis died + the day the city of Rome was founded and the fact that Nostradamus said "Through the death of a very old Pontiff, a Roman of good age will be elected, of him it will be said that he weakens his see, but long will he sit and in biting activity." Pizzaballa is 59yo)
