how much would it cost to run a website like 4chins competently if one were to think away legal issues etc just hardware side? I always wondered, someone was throwing around 90k a month but it was all on aws servers?

If you don't mind using cuckflare or other CDN's and configure it properly, it could be "cheap"(A few hundreds a month).

The main problem with 4chan is mainly traffic. I wouldn't be surprised if the storage in on the single digits tb, so the server hardware requirements for it wouldn't be that high but delivering it would be most of the cost

maybe $500 to $1000 tops. the kf hardware is about $10k and I honestly think it could run 4chan if I was able to pull out all our harddrives and replace them with nvmes. cloudflare handles almost all the bandwidth and all the disk i/o so as long as you have NVMes, enough cores, and enough memory, it is realistic that a single enterprise server could handle its workload.

btw 2ch is so big it runs on an entire rack of enterprise grade devices with the latest cpus because even though it is text it handles an obscene amount of requests.
