A lot of glowies are extremely disconnected and truly don't understand new technology or internet culture. It really wouldn't be surprising to me if 4chan was still a 24/7 glowie honeypot only because some boomer at the FBI still thinks 4chan is as relevant as it was in 2009. The govt is notoriously slow to adapt to these sorts of things.

I am an indie game dev and I had to completely give up on using the game dev general because I posted progress there two or three times, just some texturing work for my character models. Some guy started reposting my work regularly and pretending to be me, harassing every other user, making my project just dead in the water on there. Apparently it leaked into the associated discord too, although I never used it. Stopped going there 2 years ago because of it, I wonder if they're still doing it. I never posted anything besides those progress posts so I have no idea what set the schizo off.

Had similar experiences with other types of projects. I'd post some updates on them in various generals, leave for a bit (~1-2 months max), then come back with another update and get 20 people calling me a retarded faggot talking about me doing shit that I never did. Sure enough, when I'd go back in the archives there was usually a schizo impersonating me. This was around 2015-2017 or so, and it's only gotten worse since then.

Never post anything you give a fuck about on 4chan, or really any anonymous discussion site. It's just not worth it.

My thought on it would be the fact that you could easily out anyone who wanted to just stir shit up and argue for the sake of arguing. It would be a lot more interesting in what would normally be slow threads/boards being propped up by one insane faggot spamming constantly. Most normal people who aren't looking to shitpost constantly would just engage in talking about whatever the topic is while not bothering to swap IP's to change that funny identifier, meaning others could be easily ignored if it seems like they're just there to start shit with no interest in the topic.
