I never liked all the gamergate shit and when I used it that's all I saw on their /v/ so I stopped using the site quickly

iirc after the intial burst that mostly stayed in its own general, the rest of the board was much more mellow. Not retarded fast, but still brisk and lively. Jannies who actually did their job and not just jerk each other off and made the site worse. No overactive moderation. Not to mention the other boards they had, even smaller niche boards. Taking the reddit "make your own board" was a great idea that lead to some high quality niche boards if you knew how to find them.

It did go down in quality up until the big event that killed it off, but even at its worse it was still more usable than 4chan at the time.

Ever checked out /vr/ Doom generals? I haven't gone there in years. Fun place with great anons, had a few coop sessions. I hope they're still at it or can continue to go at it if 4chan comes back.

They are overmoderated dogshit now, infested with Doomworlders and ZDF troons. You can barely post there without somehow getting nuked by a janny for being "inflammatory" (read: Disagreeing with some neo-eunuch about something) or just plain bullshit made-up reasons. Every decent poster besides maybe Combine_Kegan left years ago, and Kegan basically just copypastes his devblog posts and that's it.

Though, of course, the same can be said of almost every thread on every board. It's just general rot.

I've not kept up with Homestuck drama, but I seem to remember that years ago they stopped letting /hsg/ exist. To be fair, it ended in 2016, so it was time to let the general die.

Someone complained about the post timer now. Unless you're always browsing incognito or resetting your IP daily, it's fine. You only have to wait 900 seconds once and then you're good until your IP resets. I do think that actually cut down on the spam a little bit.

The 900 second timer is easily one of the worst decisions made, to put that on top of a captcha was sobering.
