It's fair to presume that was the case but I genuinely think it was because the servers hosting the imageboard and adjacent sites got too overloaded with the extreme overflow of traffic. There was a brief period of time where /soy/ was reaching 2k+ PPH. Shortly after the site started shitting the bed

Server for mc is still offline tho. Soybooru is back up but I also presume this may be because the jannies for soycraft don't check their status that often as its not as active as it used to be.

It's a site that has served as the birthplace for so many memes and aspects of Internet culture but nothing lasts forever and the place has been kind of stagnant for a long time.

It is very easy when you refuse to do any sort of maintenance to the backend (its very likely that since moot sold the site, its been left completely alone) and many vulnerabilities for 10+ year old unpatched OS's exist.
