3% of high school students now identify as troons - No sir, no social contagion here

http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2017/07/27/transgender-high-school-students-study/

In white-bread, suburban ennui-filled Minnesota, a truly baffling number of students now identify as trans. At 3%, that's one in every classroom. Can we admit now that trans is the new emo or goth, a trendy subculture that recruits by telling kids they can join up if no one understands them and they're depressed and hate life?

Fucking sad that little kids are getting sterilized. Plenty of former goth and emo people became perfectly normal, productive members of societies with kids and houses and jobs. Now, these same kids who would have signed on to listen to Morrissey or Jimmy Eat World are getting into a subculture that tells them to spend all their savings (and that of their friends and relatives, if possible) on plastic surgery to make them feel better.

Maybe cutting wasn't the actual worst way to deal with the pain of being an adolescent with no real struggles or challenges besides the ones invented by your own psyche.

You know, if they're gonna go through with this, then I think that an alteration to the health education class would be in order. Namely, under the SexEd program, show what the process and side effects are of reassignment surgery and HRT. They do it for STDs, why not that?

Eh. Most of it'll come out in the wash. Trying on new identities is pretty normal stuff for high school kids.

It's the parents with the really little kids that are the most troubling. I swear, every time you find someone with a 7 year old trans kid, you'll find attention whoring psychoparents and a family dynamic where the siblings are in competition for attention and emotional validation. See: Angelina Jolie.

Small children who were put on the road to being butchered and sterilized before they were old enough to understand is really worrying.

And all of these high school and college students claiming they are trans are what is inflating troon numbers so hard. I sincerely hope most of them grow healthily out of it. Gender is not a costume. You can't keep changing it back and forth like wacky novelty hats. It's just a shame that people with true gender dysphoria are being talked over by kids who think they can switch between he, she, they, zey and fae anytime they want because tumblr has deluded them into thinking gender is some kind of fluid spectrum. It's just that males and females can vary greatly outside of their given stereotypes and no one is 100% identical. Telling a tomboy or an effeminate boy that they should transition when there's no evidence of dysphoria just pushes people into smaller boxes.

One word answer: transphobic

That's it, I'm fucking done. I'm moving to st louis or tulsa or something.
LOL, Tulsa's youth is indistinguishable from Portland at times. My old high school recently got gender-neutral bathrooms. St. Louis is pretty degenerate too. The poz is inescapable in this country.

I agree with the idea it's a fad but counter point: more awareness and acceptance is helping kids come out or identify the symptoms. I bet the kids coming out of the closet are thrilled because they're hella normal now.
I really don't think that, people who actually suffered from Gender Dysphoria still found a way to come out and identify their symptoms at very early ages before this all happened. Awareness has done nothing but created an army of "I HAVE AUTISMS" that would be unaware previously that transgender even existed, and I'm not saying this is true for all of them. We've known about trannies since the early 1900s, yet up until the late 00s the rates were much lower. No, awareness, post-modernism, and TV of the week movies have only served the needs of opportunists to know which symptoms to fake. In a lot of cases, they don't even try to fake it.

I actually like gender neutral bathrooms because they 1) solve the problem for legitimate trans folk and 2) take away any claim the troons have to bitch.

Wait, we're talking about single-occupant bathrooms right?

Honestly not sure. All I know is that it was the result of tranny students bitching. FWIW this was a charter school that had a reputation for being very liberal, but it's only to say that Tulsa is no haven of conservatism like you'd think.

Exactly this and this is why tumblr trannies disapprove of this solution, because they hate anything that deprives them of a reason to crouch down and screech autistically.

This is why high school bullying is a good thing and should continue. We should quit discouraging it and, instead, find out ways of actually giving federal funding to high school bullies to improve society.

If gender and sexual identity are social constructs and subject to change and choice... How come saying so made you a bigot for the past 60 years, when pray-the-gay-away camps were the ones pushing the idea?

No, piercing your tongue or slitting your wrists =/= cutting off your dick.

I feel bad for these kids, they're young and impressionable and (likely) gonna fuck their own lives up.
There's no excuse for making the worst decisions in you whole life.

This why they reintroduced wolves back into Yellowstone. Population control.
Good analogy!

You can always go to Northwest Ohio, it's still pretty sane here.

Overcoming adversity is something every child needs to learn and not hide from.

Makes me glad I'm not in high school anymore. Because if I saw one of them, I'd have to resist the urge to punch them.
