I'd say they are getting more surreal, but even the memes of the late 2000s and the early to mid 2010s had a rhyme and reason to them. My suspicion is that zoomers are constantly on the Internet, so their brains are fucking fried and thus can't make a joke that makes some sort of logical sense.
