The thing that is baffling me about this latest shooting is what the fuck was the dude thinking by pulling his gun out AFTER the ICE agents had already bodied him on the ground.

Like, let's ignore legality and federal law and the ideological positions here: Just imagine you are a person who is about to be jumped by 5 law enforcement and you think said law enforcement are your enemies. Why, why, why the fuck would you let them get their hands on you and get you on the ground BEFORE you got your gun out?

In this situation you would reach for your pistol ASAP. There would be no waiting, every fraction of a second is lowering your survivability and giving the cops a better chance to detain you. The moment they close the distance and put their hands on you you already lost the firefight because you no longer have the clearance to pull it out and aim, ESPECIALLY not against 5 motherfucking feds. Even if you are some John Wick level gunslinger (you aren't) that is a losing fight because at best you will be able to take out one before the others reach for their guns and mag dump you. The fight was lost the moment the first ICE agent put his hands on this dudes shoulder.

If they had pulled out the moment the agents approached him then maybe there might have been a chance to escape or catch them out of positon. But no, this fucker had ICE catch him and put him on the ground BEFORE he ever got his gun. At which point not only was he in no position to aim at the feds arresting him he also had no chance to possibly take down a single agent, much less all five.

Suicide by cop. That is what this was. There wasn't even a chance of taking one with him, dude just upgraded his federal felony to a summary execution.
