I saw someone mention it and it really is eerie how similar the response from the UK government to all this has been almost the exact same as the arab governments reacted to the Arab Spring. They are going straight for "shut this thing down and stop people from recording it". Their first response has been to blame the sharing of the video, and their entire coordinated response afterwards has been on blaming the reaction to the problem and not the problem itself. They are openly talking about demanding that X give them a shut it down lever so they can throttle and control the conversation "during times of heightened social tension". They either know they don't have any more arguments or they have given up on trying, and are now just moving to forceful shutting down of the entire thing.
I am eagerly waiting for Starmer to take the next step and just try to shut down the internet in Northern Ireland or order live ammo to be used. The man is enough for a soulless bureaucrat to think that might work.

Was that one of my posts? Probably not. Quite a few parallels between what's going on now 'here' and what was going on 'then' in that part of the world. Shit still going on. Not so many people who have that kind of perspective, and it's a bit of a power level really, so enough about that. But yeah, sectarianism, gerrymandering before the fact, and torture after it, if that don't work.
Btw, did they ever find out who ran those rape rooms with the cameras in Egypt, where they used to torture people? Talking of the Arab Spring.

I think what it really comes down to is second world immigrants compared to third world immigrants. Second world immigrants may carry the risk of being sleepers working for a hostile government and they may be secretly seeking to undermine your nation's power on the world stage, but they generally don't piss off the public in the same way wanton rape, murder and general havoc will. Which is why a semi-organized anti-immigration riot/pogrom would probably overlook the slanteyes.

That's something that should be mentioned Belfast has a sizeable Chinese community that is well liked by both Catholic and Protestant, and no one thinks of them when people talk about getting rid of the foreigners. They're basically invisible.
For my whole life living here I don't think I have ever heard of a Chinamen or woman committing crimes against the Irish or Ulster Scots. It's that rare if ever, and the Chinese have been here since the troubles.
Presumably most of them are from Taiwan or other (formerly non-commie) portions of China and not victims of the social engineering of the CCCP.

The Irish in the US fought in the Revolution. Irish Catholics served in the Continental Army and supported the Revolution despite pressure from the Vatican (Quebec was a brokered as an haven for Catholics and the Continentals were trying to get Quebec to join them) and anti-Papist sympathies among Protestants colonists. The US gaining anti-Irish sympathies was a mixture of immigration and a Pope being a faggot.
The pre-cursor to the Republican Party in the US were the Know Nothings, who were literally were “immigrants are solely voting for their own, driving down wages, creating ghettos, and breaking social norms”. This was when most immigrants were Irish and German Catholics who had communities to help them assimilate. Communities that had been there since the founding of the country and served.

A Scottish band, but Ulster Scots is a thing, and even if you came from the UK and met one in real life and said, sorry, I thought you were Scottish, by your accent, they bristle with pride. And then you listen to them later, and they are very obviously Norn Iron, but it's an easy mistake to make. But it's not a bad mistake to make.

I think the British government realized very early on that they couldn't have an organized police force that could sympathize with the sort of nationalists and patriots who are currently rising up in Belfast. I'm not a Britoid but every video I've watched out of the UK in the past decade where cops have been on screen have been overwhelmingly:
Muslim or Jeet.
Women in burkas.
Obviously small liberal women.
The few British men I've seen were fat and doughy and obviously not capable of much command presence.
I think if these riots/protests/civil unrest/righteous actions continue, the UK government is going to realize they shot themselves in the foot doing this. Muslims and jeets are cowards, women in burkas are women, the small liberal women break down and start sobbing if they get punched in the mouth, and the fat/doughy British cops are fat/doughy and don't want to get stomped by protestors. If pressure continues and this is a return to 'Troubles'-esque violence in Northern Ireland and across the UK, I do not understand how the UK government would quell this without resorting to deploying the army to the streets.
