The issue in Europe is that we've had well over 200 years of "humanist" prison reform by high-minded intellectuals who love huffing their own farts. As result organised crime was undergoing explosive growth by the late 19th century which was only slightly stymied because police developed actual forensics (many crime scene procedures were invented by the Berlin Kripo during the 3rd Reich and widely shared thru Interpol for example) and rising authoritarian goverments. After the war, the same people tried to start their rackets again but were supressed for a time, then everything came back with a vengenace and American glowie background influence.
The same system that could barely deal with native crime now faces multinational ethno-religious criminal clans that are nearly impossible to infiltrate and a whole underclass of deeply malicious brownoids prone to chimpouts and random acts of violence.
The fact that's it's not only ongoing but ramping up is a pretty good sign. Normally a protest/riot fizzles out pretty quickly when it's against elite's pets, but so far there's no slowing down.

They're not. They are not widely recognised as the IRA. They might be to foreigners who know nothing about the IRA or Irish history. But no one is under the illusion that the retards peddling ket are the same ones that died to free Ireland in 1916. Most news reports just call them gangs or by the specific name and so do most people. Irish people do not call the n/rIRA 'the IRA'.
You can say this if you want, but the "new IRA" are the only "IRA" anyone ever talks about anymore. I'm not arguing that anyone thinks that these people are actually the same IRA from years ago, but I am arguing that there's no visible threat to any of these people. There have been zero consequences for their misuse of the IRA name.

Is anything actually going on to do something about this? Are there any major threats to the IRA LARPers? I've heard nothing about it.

A police officer or politician would probably have to be killed before they step in. The NI police are pretty used to dealing with civil unrest, so it'll take a lot to properly rattle them.
