A knife is no joke, all they have to do is extend their arm with the pointy end and its gonna hurt. Trading punches for slashes is not a good plan. Maybe the bystanders couldve done something but if they fucked up their chance then they would've gotten slashed too, its better to have an equalizer and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Yeah. When you're watching a guy going full hack and slash, a lot of people aren't joining in. It can easily go bad. Again, there is a big difference between moral, and reality. Most people are not conditioned to throw away their survival instincts on the drop of a hat
 
This whole thing has me wondering a bit. About a year or two ago, I was reminded of the UK poll tax riots. I remember watching those and recalling them as absolutely fucking viscous, with what looked to be half the country going berserk in the streets. It was the first and pretty much only white riot I can recall and left a clear impression.

Like I said, I was reminded a while back and looked it up on Wikipedia. I'm sitting there reading it and I guess young me was just easily impressed, as wiki made it sound like 500 people showed and all got the beating and thrown in prison for pretty much forever.

Big time cognitive dissonance thing, I guess. haha

The only way I'd have intervened is if I had a gun or maybe some kind of polearm, and I'm generally not in the habit of carrying either . I'm not drawing aggro on a psychotic chimp with a knife unless I know I can kill him well before he reaches me. Sucks for the guy whose life he ruined, but me getting murdered too won't fix anything.

It was funny, in the middle of a race riot breaking out is the precise moment the U.S. decided to start bombing Iran. I know in a rational world it’s coincidence but the image of Bibi picking up the phone and telling Donald to distract the masses by bombing Esfahan is in my mind and I can’t stop chuckling.
