While I somewhat agree, Belfast is a special case. Those guys have a long history of paramilitarism and organized violence. Both the Irish Catholics and the Protestant Ulstermen. They aren't starting from effectively zero. The other protests in the UK leading up to this were sloppy messes with near to no opsec in comparison. I had a personal conversation regarding these riots that made me ill.
I spoke with a left wing friend of mine who was incredibly distressed at the treatment of the innocent refugees being attack in Europe over this killing. I asked if she saw the video of the guy being attacked by Sudanese migrant. She said no, but that doesn't matter because he will "have his day in court" and that it isn't a sin of all migrants.
"You can't just categorize people based on skin color and attack them."
Not sure how to reconcile this in my mind.

You reconcile it like this: these people are mindless automatons who would just as soon say that if their own kin died in a such a horrible way, let alone some stranger. Depending on their actions they're either grumbling spectators or brief roadblocks. Trying SO hard not to say things that will get me a knock on the door.
