tl;dr: VZ opposition is basically a bunch of progressive leftists. There's no right wing in Venezuela since Perez Jimenez, the last right wing or at the very least right adjacent "leader" was Renny Ottolina back in the 70s, he was popular and oh so conveniently he died in a plane crash. So the opposition's messages are all about "a peaceful transition" and "democracy", they always made backdoor deals with Chavismo and when the people went out, protested, etc. they simply ignored it, sent them home or said "yeah yeah we want chavismo out, good luck!" and then went on to make more backdoor deals with Chavismo. They constantly travel all around America and Europe, have a lavish lifestyle, and in general they probably benefit more from being the Opposition than they'd do actually ruling the country.

Yeah but what about: Maria Corina vs Lacava.

I can unironically see Lacava becoming the new face of Chavismo. If anything I can see Chavismo rebranding itself as a populist, nationalist, right-wing and conservative ideology, with Lacava as its new figurehead. I mean he was always a showman so it's not going to be surprising if Lacava becomes a Temu Trump.

Controlled opposition. Venezuela has no real right wing party since Perez Jimenez. It is just left and center left, passing the potato between them, while smothering anyone else wanting to get into politics. Real opposition gets killed by the government like the dozens of soldiers that have tried to revolt, like Ojeda, who was killed in Chile after fleeing the country or Oscar Perez.

Multiple dissenter groups have popped out, they just get 1-Betrayed by the opposition 2-Eliminated by the SEBIN 3-Die because the opposition leaves no space for other groups to grow.

Chavismo does a proper info war of propaganda, having what is essentially a monopoly on the media, making it so it is basically impossible to go against the grain. Last elections were important because they showed that a sector of the population was done with the opposition MCM got fewer people than Guaido despite having as many resources and a stronger discourse (Before becoming a candidate when she said there was a plan, because she knew Chavismo would not accept their loss) She proceeded to speedrun losing all credibility (Because reminder, this always happens, but it never did this fast) Only after the 28 July fuckup, a small space for dissenting voices was created, to the point that for a moment it became semi mainstream to hate the opposition. That was till Trump wanted a new ballwasher and proceeded to support the same opposition that had already betrayed him once, sending us back to square one.

For chavismo the end result is to simply stop any kind of threat to their power before it even starts. For the opposition is getting a comfy retirement in some leftist country like Spain, with a Diplomatic Visa and millions of dollars earned 100% legally.​
