I figured they were more like moral patches for Kiwi identification during TEOTWAWKI. My kevlar has a "Please be patient I have autism," patch front and center.

so to make patches you need embroidery machines, raw materials (thread/fabric), an image compatible with the software of the machine, and time for the machine to make the patches.

there are many people on etsy who have all of these things. Many of them take requests that are for specific projects rather than monthly sources of income. They already know how to do shipping fulfillment and get their ratings ruined if they fuck it up, so it won't be a coin fulfillment situation.

there are also smaller stores that customize things for local businesses, they are used to big orders and have embroidery. they may not be used to patches though and might reject you unless its on a shirt or hat. but times are tough and an enterprising small businessman may make things happen for the right customer.

Another option is buying a used machine or sourcing farmers that may have one that they don't want anymore. the sounds of an embroidery machine can be annoying.

that's all I can think of for non-conventional ways to get patches done. I'll buy a bunch of these when they become available.

I really like the current patch designs and think some look really badass, but being honest, as a woman uterus haver, I wouldn't personally buy any of these because they aren't cute/feminine.

Just pointing out, given the fact the female demographic on KF is big and continues to grow, you could probably get more sales if you included a couple of cute/girly patches.
