In a year where movies like Death Note, The Dinner and The Snowman (A movie that's technically unfinished) came out, the Razzies still go for popular, low-hanging fruit.

lol was Mother! really that bad? I never saw it but I remember that it got decent reviews.

mother! was extremely polarizing, but I thought it was great. This feels like a throwback to when Scarface, The Thing and The Shining were up for noms. (Along with Kubrick for Worst Director, in case you weren't sure that Razzie voters have no idea what the fuck they're talking about.)

I'm surprised that The Book of Henry and Justice League didn't get nominated (the latter mainly because it's an easy target).

I'm actually kind of upset that "Worst Animated Movie" isn't a category this year, 2017 was just awful for animated films. Guess the community just has too much of a hate-boner for The Emoji Movie that they decided against it because it'd be too fucking obvious.

Emoji will most likely win all of the categories its nominated for, though Fifty Shades Darker must've been that traumatizing. Kind of surprised that T.J. Miller wasn't considered for "Worst Actor", but I guess voice-acting "doesn't count". Now imagine the REEing if Emma Watson wins a Razzie (must've been worse than Beauty and the Beast).

The Razzies tend to nominate at least one movie that would get the ire from Hollywood circles and sensitive movie fans. And it's now especially the case with mother! this year.

There ain't no DC films here. Justice League should at least have deserved a nom or two in there.

But I guess it was rather slim overall (or they didn't care this time around), would have expected them try to include King Arthur, The Bye Bye Man or Fate of the Furious among there. Hell, Power Rangers and Ghost in the Shell could have easilly been up for the "WORST REMAKE, RIP-OFF or SEQUEL" award by principle.

2017 was a pretty terrible year and they're not taking advantage of it. For shame Razzies, for shame.

I know they were as polarizing as mother! when they came out, and that's what I was going for with my comment. But nominating Kubrick and Aronofsky that deep into their careers just makes them look ignorant.

Every year has terrible films and they never take advantage of it. For shame Razzies, for shame.
