It was even more hilarious. It was a German owned Cruise ship. Specifically an Antarctic Cruise ship. So it had an Icebreaker hull. The Cruise ship had an engine problem in international waters. The Venezuelan Navy came out to, not render aid, but to seize the ship and rob everybody. They fired warning shots, did the whole song and dance. The Captain of the Cruise ship was in real time communications with Germany and was clearly in international waters so HQ said "get the hell out of there". The video does mention that many of the buildings that collapsed were social housing built during the Chavez-Maduro regime by Chinese construction companies so it tracks that these would feature the very same underhanded methods as is China, perhaps even worse since the corruption in LatAm tends to go hand in hand with a degree of incompetence that would make the Chinese blush.
US military deployment adds about 900 troops in Venezuela
The US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) is currently conducting a large-scale operation in Venezuela to support relief efforts following the devastating double earthquake on June 24. According to General Francis Donovan, commander of the Southern Command, the mission is focused exclusively on humanitarian aid and emergency logistics.

I'm obsessed with the La Guaira McDonald's story. This is one of those amazing "truth is stranger then fiction" sort of stories. Apparently the Doctors were looking for a location to triage all the walking wounded in the immediate neighborhood, and the McDonalds was the only building still standing and undamaged. On top of having an open parking lot. They started doing the triage outside the building before the police gave them permission to move inside. At first they were unaware the building even had a generator until someone who worked at the store pointed it out to them.
I think there is a metaphor in this too, about how the McDonalds is the only building standing surrounded by collapsed state built apartments, it has power, food, and air conditioning.

A McDonald’s in Venezuela has become a hospital for earthquake victims, as well as a center for locating and treating missing pets in the seaside city of Caraballeda, which was devastated by two earthquakes on June 24.
Neighbors call it simply “Hospital McDonald’s.”
The restaurant is next to the ruins of collapsed state housing complexes, according to The Associated Press.
“This is a miracle,” Gabriels Alves said, arms wrapped around her 6-year-old dog with an IV in one of his legs on a table next to restaurant workers selling soft-serve ice cream. “We’ve lost everything material, but at least we’re both alive.”
The makeshift hospital was born out of necessity, one day after the back-to-back earthquakes killed at least than 2,295 people and wounded 11,000, according to Venezuelan officials.
According to the report, Angel Matute and 70 other veterinarians, students, doctors and civilian volunteers traveled from the western city of Barquisimeto. They needed a place to operate out of and McDonald’s was the option.
It still has air-conditioning, so they began distributing medical supplies and treating human patients while also becoming a place for treating injured pets and seeking dogs and cats that were still missing.
They have rescued 140 animals and treated 60 more, while McDonald’s still continues to serve customers.

It's the chief of police of La Guaira, some fucking viceadmiral. He was the one that reported that 21 people were under the rubble and alive. Life signs were confirmed, apparently, today. Hopefully, it is not bullshit and there is actually some people other than the nigger admiral.
