Horrifying realization I've made: the missing persons count is rising.
It was around 40k when numbers were first coming out, but now it's at nearly 70k.
The more horrifying issue is entire families were living in chinesium commie blocks. They may not even be reported missing because nobody can report them. The official government figures of 1400 collapsed buildings is also wrong. They have no clue, but the satellite imagery is starting to paint a grim picture.

I believe the USGS actuarial estimates (the tables just based on strength, depth, soil, etc. No analysis of this specific event) predict somewhere north of 100,000 likely dead. Which is horrifying to even contemplate.

Technically we do have construction codes demanding buildings to be seismic-resistant, but of course...
Look at the pictures posted of the devastation and rescue operations. Look for what you don't see a lot of in the debris. REBAR! You're not seeing a lot of steel. I'm sure some buildings have plenty. Many of those are still standing. But much of what came down looks to be unreinforced or minimally reinforced masonry or concrete construction.

Chavismo can comfortably claim to be one of the bloodiest dictatorships, if not the bloodiest, in this hemisphere. Yes yes, natural disaster, it was very preventable. Their incompetence, inaction and now sabotage is actively contributing to this horrific death toll.

Diosdado blocks an american rescue personel.

MCM wanted to enter the country, contracted her own private security teams, and was told NO by the US.

We already passed the dehydration threshold. The death toll will skyrocket this week. I know for a fact that Chavismo is sabotaging all rescue efforts to stop an izzat loss, and avoid making the US look bad. I maintain my previous stance, if by the end of this there is less than 10k graves waiting to be dug. Then we should kiss the earth for having mercy on us.

⚠️⚠️🇻🇪 María Corina announces her return to Venezuela

Press x to doubt

Which would put it on the global leader boards for all human history. Lets hope its not that bad.
To put it in perspective the 2011 Magnitude 9.1 earthquake that hit Tohoku Japan plus its subsequent massive Tsunami, that among other things caused the Fukushima Nuclear disaster has about 20,000 confirmed dead and another 2000 "missing" (likely swept out to sea). This is starting to already look catastrophically worse in terms of potential loss of life.

I think the only thing similar to this in the Western Hemisphere in the 20th and 21st Century might be the 1970 Peru 8.0 Earthquake that killed between 66,000-70,000. Mostly from massive landslides.

Fukushima Nuclear disaster
Japan has a competent emergency logistics network. That whole disaster has been recorded and its findings even implemented into California's own disaster response plan. Venezuela on the other hand is just gonna cover everything up in a shit version of DPRK censorship.

Venezuela is completely fucked and the news media like CNN is being a huge faggot complaining about the UK and "far-right extremists" instead of trying to show the absolute izzat loss that Venezuela's government has become. You cannot hate journo scum more.

Also Al Jazeera shows crying Palestinian child for the 10,000 time:

I wish this thread was more active cause imma throw my PC at a wall if I have to endure more CNN Belfast far-right nazis and Palestinian innocent grenade throwing children.

US Chargé d'Affaires, John Barret, on criticisms of the FANB amid the tragedy: "I saw before the earthquake a commitment from the interim government to work, to collaborate with us"

"After the earthquake, nothing has changed."
Sweep it up janny
Why would the US look bad? I’d prefer marines standing behind those rescuers backing them up with discombobulators but it appears they’re moving a lot of people and equipment in.

Luckily the eternal cease fire in Iran is holding steady and we only need to throw missiles at them once every 24 hours so I imagine there will be more guys landing soon.

One of the most amusing things about walking around on the rubble that used to be my state was looking at the still standing buildings that recieved little to no damage and learn they were made by Perez Jimenez, is impressive how his building autism withstood the test of time, communism and 2 natural disasters. Truly the best leader we ever had.

Also people is fed up with cops looting and being a general nuisance and have resorted to beat the shit out of them
My Internet where i am is incredibly slow and trying to download and post a video here in such conditions should be considered a kind of chinese water torture, so maybe someone with a less shitty conection will do the sneedfull.

i've also heard from a friend volunteering that people burned someone alive because he was caught trying to rape a child.

The USGS's automated system(PAGER) spit out a 67% chance of somewhere between 10,000 and 100,000+ fatalities

Having the government you backed up, and compliment every time you are asked. Being exposed as a bunch of malicious retards is not exactly good PR. Is not good for the US is not good for Chavismo. A good part of the plan Trump has for Venezuela relies on recovering the trust on the country governance, so investors can start pumping money into the local industries. The plan for Chavismo to survive is to roll over and not bring attention to themselves.
A point of comparison would be when Argentina elected Milei, and he got billion dollar investments from day one, because he had build enough trust for his party that investors were willing to take the risk. You did not see that with Venezuela.

And if the earthquakes wherent enough the Portuguesa Estate is suffering from heavy destructive rains as we speak Link/chive

At least 100 families were left homeless by heavy rains in Portuguesa.

So far, no fatalities or injuries have been reported; however, the magnitude of the material damage and the number of affected families keep the communities on alert.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At least 100 families were left homeless this Sunday in the Los Bendecidos sector of Chabasquén, Unda municipality of Portuguesa state, following the overflow of a creek caused by heavy rains and strong gusts of wind recorded since the early hours of the morning.

The emergency worsened during the early hours of the morning, when the rainfall raised the creek's water level until it exceeded the limits of its riverbed.
The force of the water dragged sediment and advanced over the homes in the area, catching residents by surprise due to the speed at which the flood occurred.

The affected families lost household goods, food, and, worst of all, parts of their housing structures.
The situation was aggravated by the weather conditions that persisted for hours, preventing an early assessment of the damages and hindering the initial relief efforts in the community.
Given the absence of an institutional response, the neighbors themselves took the initiative and set up two temporary shelters to care for those affected.

Likewise, the community called for the immediate presence of Civil Protection teams and municipal authorities to assess the structural risks left by the overflow and to guarantee the safety of those who remain in the area.

God had enough of brown people.

An update with all the countries that have sent rescue crews.
This is very cool.

Update to this. The babies mother was pulled out shortly after. I can think of no closer experience to hell on Earth then to be a young mother pinned under concrete listening to your 9 month old cry for over a day.
Thank you for that update. My first thought on the first video was that the poor kid was going to be an orphan.
