You can try trimming it but from personal experience it might not work at all and make the file bigger instead :)
/db prune X keep/drop confirm
Where X is the threshold of blocks placed/destroyed to keep the chunk. keep/drop keeps or removes the land claims in pruned chunks. You can dry run it by removing the confirm, but it will take a long ass time regardless.
You can also try with /db vacuum, didn't do anything in my case either though.

The saves are completely uncompressed and very repetitious, they compress very very well.
There are also chunk pruning commands to remove chunks that were generated but never modified appreciably from the save file.

It only gets better, something they can actually boast about given how many games come out shit and stay shit, or come out decent but the devs drop the ball and make the game worse every update.

God help us. Guess now's a good time to invest in supports, especially considering how many you need. Or strip mine which is not as effective.

You can expect size around 1-2 GB if you simply put it in a zip, even lower with fancier stuff.
 
How is nobody posting about how Tyron is hiring the failed HyTale developers and deciding to bundle a whole new "Adventure Mode" with Vintage Story?

The best of ideas is to take a game marketed as a (semi-)realistic survival sandbox and to make it... less realistic, less survival, and probably less sandbox. The lore is already truly awful, to add another diversion from the survival-focus formula sounds like a truly baffling decision.
He's also busy non-arguing on the forums and locking threads because they aren't "nice enough", including the blog post itself.

This game is going in a bad direction because of Tyron's lack of actual feedback. He's already developing a game concurrent to this one, now he wants to also audit all changes on another gamemode that nobody asked for by a team people who cannot make a single marketable product by themselves.

I thought the VS lore was pretty good. Definitely better than awful.

I believe and hope that it will become its own game because there will not be hardly any overlap between the two audiences and making them separate would greatly expand the studio's SOI.

I have to give Tyron a huge break because he could have sold the game a dozen different and far more profitable ways than offering a download of the game to players.
It works offline, you can play over LAN, once you buy the game you own your copy, it is not licenced to you.
 
Hopefully they will keep the gamemodes completely separate and only share code when it comes to improvements for basic systems. I don't think they'll change the normal survival mode because most people who play Vintage Story want a more realism focused experience. I have seen that some people want a more rpg and fantasy focused experience. This "adventure mode" might be a good way to appeal to those people.
I'm personally not that interested in the adventure mode project because I wasn't hyped for hytale.
 
Is the server going to wipe again? I was on it earlier on the new map for a little bit. I've set up camp in a cave/river that cuts through a mountain up north. I don't have much progress so it isn't the end of the world for me if it gets wiped again but I'm going to hold off before doing anything further on it.

Janny never change. He probably does it for free too.
I went over the post expecting and searching for homosexual language but couldn't find it, despite the funny janny line.
He brought this up, it does bug me how often people take basic disagreements as personal attacks and immediately go for insults. Usually the guys who start putting random words in quotes.
