Oh boy, I got a story for y'all.

Back in October I had a slight cold, came out of nowhere as colds are wont to do. Bit of a fever, somewhat nauseous, had a mild cough at worst. I started feeling it on a Thursday, but after taking some acetaminophen and nyquil for a couple nights, I felt normal by Sunday afternoon, save for the cough. Since I felt like I was over the hump and had my assurances that it wasn't corona, I confided in one of my roommates since he asked why I seemed sluggish lately.

Big mistake. Said roommate told my other roommate, his live-in gf, who promptly went ballistic and made everyone in the apartment get tested for covid immediately.

These two roommates of mine were/are NPCs in every sense of the word: no sense of curiosity, CNN-parroting, "Trust the Science", low-information voter types. They're normies in every sense of the word. I was not able to convince them that this cold I had was simply a cold and not the dreaded Chinese Sneeze.

Those same roommates got the coof at a Halloween party and brought it home with them. I ended up quarantining for half of November because I tested positive. To reiterate, these were the same roommates who flipped their shit over me having a small cold that I kicked in two and a half days, forcing me to wear a mask in the apartment (which I never actually did) until everyone was confirmed to have tested negative, decided that the rules they enforced no longer applied to them. I cannot properly overstate my sense of sheer elation when they moved out in February.

As for my experience regarding the symptoms, I had none. I basically just spent two weeks living off Domino's and a small stockpile of groceries, watching Shinichiro Watanabe shows and catching up on my art, all while making sure I didn't leave my room except to shower, shit and cook, lest my remaining healthy roommate contract the ol' Chinese Sneeze too. Not sure if my lack of symptoms meant I was an asymptomatic carrier, or I simply just built an extremely strong immunity at my job.

That being said, for a couple days prior to receiving my test results, I had shivers and a bit of a runny nose, which I wrote off as being underfed due to not wanting to contract the same symptoms as my already-quarantining roommates. Hard to say for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had covid symptoms for a day or two before the virus went dormant.

It took about a year, but the coof found us. I think my grandma cast the pox upon us when she passed tbh (though Mom suspects it was the nurse checking in on her who spread it to us), because within days of her passing, family members who had visited to comfort Papa started coughing. Papa had the cough by the time I visited him that Saturday, and then the following week my parents started looking and sounding like shit and suspected they had caught it.

Turned out to be true, but Mom developed pneumonia as did Papa, so they're currently on oxygen at the hospital, have been since Monday (Papa) and Tuesday night (Mom), and so far are looking good. We're all slowly getting tested, and the two who're coughing and sniffling the most and always bundling up have tested positive, another brother just got tested today but he doesn't really have much of a cough like his twin, but for sure he's infected. We're pretty sure we're all positive. I have a bit of mucus and a cough, maybe a headache that I can ignore, and that's it. Only body part that aches sometimes is my arm because lol I had helped lift a casket, and I don't even know if I have a fever, sometimes the room feels strangely warm but it passes.

And yet I'm telling you, I am not as sick as I was last year, where in February/March, I was the sickest I remember ever being, and then I was sick off-and-on for most of the year until September-ish. I've yet to feel like that again as of this writing, and it's been in the house for at least a week-and-a-half. It's really weird. If I don't crash within the next week, then I'm gonna be convinced this strain wasn't a bad one and some of my family was just unlucky enough to feel like crap.

EDIT: Lol the one twin tested negative. So maybe not all of us are positive after all.

Further adventures of the Coof survivors in my immediate social circle-
One guy has developed a stammer.
The one with asthma now has trouble with oxygen levels dropping to around 80 if any extra walking around happens.
I personally get weirdly tired at random, my varicose veins hurt more often and I feel like my heart is sort of grinding as it beats. My eyesight is rapidly getting worse, which is really pissing me off.
We all are derpy af (more than usual) and forget words, mispronounce common things, flake out in the middle of talking about something and have to just wait until we remember what we were saying, or just shrug and hope it wasn't important because that train of thought just drove into a wormhole never to be seen again.
For what it's worth, the three of us are vaccinated (Pfizer, both doses) as well.

I am curious as to what in the brain gets affected by the virus. I'm not suggesting anyone do this, with the neurological symptoms, it makes me wonder, what would happen if you (general you) tried some Dexamphetamine. All of them sound exactly the same (besides the never seen again, it's a constant circle so they do come back again, at 2am mainly lol) as unmedicated ADHD, obviously there is far more to ADHD but those are all definite symptoms.

I've just had what must've been covid, didn't take their useless test or go to the doctors or anything...flu like symptons, no energy, lack of reasoning power (forgot how old I was at one point)...lasted about a week.

Piece of piss really.

Not sure about Dexamphetamine but Adderall (amphetamine salts) doesn't do much at all for the new nonsense, at least in the two of us that take it.

As reported in the other thread, I got another antibody test and have apparently had Covid sometime between January and June of '21. The only time in that window that I felt off was some minor tiredness, inability to focus, and one night of veritgo right after a vacation - which I attributed to jet leg.

I also was sick in Jan '20, with much stronger and clearer Covid symptoms, so I wonder if I had it twice, but I've had two negative antibody tests after that first round so I'm not sure.

Haven't had any long term symptoms and have actually been working out a lot more this year and feeling much more energetic.

I was the sickest I've ever been in my life in late 2019. Took me over a month to get better, and that only after I got steroids from the doctor. Tired, sore from coughing up a lot of phlegm. Took me another month to be able to breathe right again. But I didn't lose my sense of smell or taste. Never was sure if what I had was some strain of COVID before we knew what it was. It was diagnosed back then as viral bronchitis.

Well, I've really been lucky (and careful) for the past year and a half, but I finally got the variant at work (I assume) recently. Resting at home, and I'm fucking miserable. I would say it's not as bad as it was in 2019, but the sense of constant discomfort, the fluctuating fever, and the total lack of appetite is just awful. And yes I've lost most of my sense of smell/taste.

I have been out of work a week. I don't see how in the world will go back in another week. FML. (Still don't regret not getting jabbed tho.)

Ugh.
A household member and myself both feel like crap since Sunday Aug 15. Fatigue, headaches, body aches. They are coughing a lot but I am not. We are both vaccinated (Pfizer) and we both had Covid back in October.
Probably nothing, right?

fever is the make-or-break right? have either of you taken your temperature yet?

I had it in January. Just thought I had the flu at first but then my sense of taste and smell left entirely. After a month they came back broken - the palette of different smells I can detect is vastly reduced and everything's overlapping. Red meat smells like caustic chemicals now. Chicken smells like body odor. Vegetables are less affected; while not a vegetarian by a long shot, I'm definitely eating a lot more greens these days.

White roses smell like roses but with an edge of that caustic smell creeping in. Red ones seem fine. I go for walks at lunch and smell red roses now.

At least it ain't cognitive issues, I guess.

No fever so far. My 98.8 was as close as it came.

Maybe.... we have something that isn't Covid? I've heard that back in olden times folks used to get things called "colds" and "flu." Were those ever real?

That literally happened to me as well. Around Thanksgiving 2019 I had a horrible cough that lasted well over a month. I was coughing up blood-tinged mucus at its worst. Sore throat, fever, just everything was in pain. But like you, no loss of taste and smell. No one could figure out what it was. Probably took me about 2 months or so to completely recover from that.

I “officially” caught COVID right after New Years of 2021. Damn sure I caught it from work, because at the time, we had 5 people out for COVID so it was spreading like wildfire there. Like you, it wasn’t as bad as that time in 2019, my symptoms were loss of taste and smell, loss of appetite, and mostly just pure exhaustion. It was a chore to get up to even use the bathroom. Had to force myself to eat every now and then even though my body was like “I’m good fam”. That came and went in about a week and a half. Just spent my quarantine sleeping and watching YouTube.

I’m just curious as to what that ended up being in 2019. Doctors both then and now can’t give me an answer.

There was absolutely something going around between Thanksgiving of '19 and March of '20. Everybody I know had it.
Yep, I had this as well, it was the sickest I've ever felt, my cough was so bad. I had heart palpitations for almost 2 months afterwards, there was definitely some gnarly virus going around.

Whatever I had in 2019 made me much sicker than when I tested positive for COVID but it did have two symptoms in common which was occasionally getting an irregular heartbeat and a weird tingly feeling in my fingers, kind of felt like seltzer bubbles. Other than that I never even really felt sick with COVID though, just a bit "off" and couldn't taste or smell

I still feel tired af and achy. Not sure if joint pain is from illness or oldness.
Other person who is also sick has been having worse random creakiness. Complaints sound like some sort of inflammation. Ibuprofin helps for a while, but once it wears off the pain comes right back.

I blame Walmart. Not for any real reason I just want to be cranky.
