Chris - The Legal Issues - A Prosecutor's Perspective

I’m ignorant of the way this usually goes, but how did Chris end up with a lawyer at all? I know that you’re guaranteed representation but I would have assumed you’d have to ask for it which, given his demeanor during arrest and mugshots, I’m not sure Chris would have done.
Don't worry. Chris either won't do any prison time, or he'll only do a few months. From an astrological standpoint, it doesn't really matter. Next year will be a great year for him. He'll be celebrated even. It makes me sick, but at that time I'll probably leave Kiwifarms.net

What do you mean about Chris having a good year next year? Does your astrological predictions ever go wrong before?

Really? Do either of you want to trip balls while in prison? It sounds like a horrible time to me..
It depends on where you go of course, but contrary to popular belief, not all prisons are nightmarish hellholes full of bikers and niggers waiting to stab you while you get raped.

In many prisons, especially the ones for long timers, boredom is a bigger problem than violence.

So... Yeah! If I ever found myself in the unfortunate situation that I have a few years to kill, I probably wouldn’t turn down a supply of LSD, lol!

But like AnOn my interest is mostly theoretical.

I have a hard time picturing that, but super respect for your skills if it turns out to be the case.

Just Chris’s housing situation would make me doubt how great 22 will be for him.

Are you sure your 2022 can’t be interpreted as “It’ll be a great year because prison gives him the structure he needs”?

And you better not leave! We need oldfags more than ever!

The first thing the attorney demanded in court was for Chris to shut up, so he definetely knows what he's doing. If Chris gets to walk, being placed under the supervision of a competent advisor would force him to taking a job, cleaning his act and maybe, just maybe, becoming a better, healthier person. Of course, that would be great for him, but he'd still pout and bitch about it the whole time.

This is by far the most interesting thread on this site.

Any chance that the pysch eval will be available to the public?
It's extremely unlikely except for a leak. These evals are usually confidential for fairly obvious reasons. The exception is if some of it has to be used at trial or during a sentencing hearing, as and even then only the strictly relevant parts will be entered into evidence, usually not the whole thing. But if a plea deal is entered-which is extremely likely here-it will remain confidential.

(There are things called Pre Sentence Investigations which contain a lot of private or prejudicial material such as psych evals and those are kept confidential for the defendant's safety, but are part of the official record and used in consideration of a sentence.)

Boredom is the actual punishment. The occasional bit of violence is the only entertainment you get. Not from my own personal experience, but I've been told.

I'm saving any future LSD experiment for coping with my imminent death, not recreation. I want to contemplate my mortality when it is actually near. At least if I get the chance and it doesn't sneak up on me.

Yeah, I figured as much. Just want to see an objective psych diagnosis with the dream of a MMPI test results.

Chris is someone they do not want to be famous for.
Yeah, it's a bit late for that one. Cases rarely go to trial but this is CWC so it may happen anyway.

Actual legal trouble? Probably not. It's impossible to say because we don't even know where they were when they made the calls. So there are all sorts of jurisdictional issues to consider in terms of their state/country law, whether it's an interstate issue and therefore Federal...and that's before you even get to the point of them having committed an actual crime.
I am just a speculator, I am no legal expert whatsoever, I am just following this drama and want to put my two cents in. I've read everything that's been leaked and it still feels like the tip of the iceberg. I was wondering if this could be a RICO case, given that there are several factors to indicate that it is. Thoughts?

As long as privilege is preserved, no.

But you can absolutely count on Chris to destroy attorney-client privilege at every step, so I'm almost certain we're going to hear plenty that we ought not to.

Privilege is most often destroyed by sloppy clients even doing simple things like making social media posts, so Chris is going to be a hellscape.

Doubtful, if you're referring to the business with Isabella Janke in Texas. In a perfect world, with unlimited time, people, and money, perhaps. But Greene County, Virginia is not going to have any of those. The fed will be even less interested, their overburdened and understaffed DoJ has far, far more important things to worry about.

True, but the biggest source of leaks on Chris is... Chris.

My knee immediately jerked and said it's never a RICO case.
I think that's reaching. Doesn't the US Government consider a case as "RICO" when it's on a large scale. 1. There was no real extortion going on. Chris was dumb enough to leak his bank account information, and he chose to rape his own mother. The 500 dollars would be great for Judge Judy.

RICO is used far more for nailing troublesome individuals when actual evidence is lacking. It's rarely used in literal criminal conspiracies.
