Rihanna now officially a billionaire

Rihanna is now officially a billionaire and the wealthiest female musician in the world, according to Forbes.

The pop star is worth $1.7 billion (£1.2 billion), with an estimated $1.4 billion coming from the value of her Fenty Beauty cosmetics company.

The rest of her fortune mostly comes from lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, worth an estimated $270 million, and her earnings from music and acting.

She is second only to Oprah Winfrey as the world's richest female entertainer.

Rihanna - whose real name is Robyn Fenty - launched Fenty Beauty in 2017 in a partnership with luxury goods company LVMH.

At the time, she said the aim of the line was to appeal to "every type of woman" and launched 40 different foundation shades, which at the time was largely unprecedented. It led to the so-called "Fenty Effect" where rival brands broadened their shade ranges for make-up products.

The line brought in more than $550 million in annual revenue in its first year, LVMH said.

Not all of Rihanna's business ventures have paid off, however.

Earlier this year, the 33-year-old agreed with LVMH to shut down her Fenty fashion label after less than two years in production.

The Barbadian singer has sold more than 250 million records, but has not released a studio album since 2016's Anti.

However, she was recently spotted shooting a music video with her boyfriend, rapper A$AP Rocky.

Wrong...
they missed the word selfmade...
there are a couple of realy loaded wifes and daughters in the entertainment biz.

These numbers are insane. 1.5 billion in like 3 years, 550 million gross in the first year? Unfuckingbelievable. I'm not gonna lie, I'm jealous, as there is literally NO productive add-value "real" work that would ever get you even close to that. Even being the owner of a production/industrial company wouldn't get you that without decades of work and many fortunate outcomes. The only way to make this kind of insane fortune is to have electronic marketing power, aim it at the consumption economy, and strap some boosters made out of someone else's huge fortune to your ass.

She didn't even make something useful or revolutionary, she just marketed (most likely toxic chinese) make-up to brown people (?) as per the article. Apparently she offered more browns (?) than other companies did, but I have a hard time believing that literally no one sold these products before she did. It sounds like she just consolidated the market under a fancy name.

Anyways it's fucking crazy. I realize it's not liquid capital but in a paper-based economy it's almost as good. I wonder if there were any questionable business practices involved?

She should redistribute some of that wealth, she doesn't need to be a billionaire!!! #EatTheRich #EndCapitalism

Is this in the British Billion or American Billion? It would be much more impressive if it's the former.

Okay, i think this article is BS and she just partly owns the brand and they gave it a fantasy price in france to prop up the mother companies value.

She is just the face of it. its just another line of a giant company and she owns 15% of this brand.
