There's loads of online tournaments, sure, but the game's definitely lost a lot of momentum since the loss of EVO and Nintendo's support.

WaveDashing in Melee is like RollCanceling in Capcom vs SNK 2

Both of these are glitches that never got noticed during bug testing, but in the competitive scene they are heavily abused to the point where they are considered a core aspect of gameplay, especially in tournaments.

Using cheap tricks like these to win doesn't impress me.

In the case of wavedashing it's not a glitch, it's an exploit of something that's meant to happen when you airdodge into a surface.

I'm not against melee because of wavedashing, I'm just against it because A) it's not a fun watch. B) it's absurd the amount of fgc tourney environments are ruined by wierdly entitled smash players who can't stand their 20 year old game not appearing at every major consecutively for 8 years. And C) The smell.

However, if you get bitchy over exploits that don't outright win you the game, and are avaliable to both players, you're a bitch. Multi-move combos in SFII are a glitch, 2G in soulcalibur is a glitch, alot of the fun stuff in MtG wasn't designed to happen. Hell, most of the coolest shit in actual fighting games comes from a glitch or exploit.

Melee is a rushed, messy party game held together with sakurai's cum and toothpicks, and it'd be in a comfy place as a farm for wierd glitch/exploit trivia, but it's ruined by a community of entitled manchildren.

Also, even though all the wierd rapists mostly come from ultimate, I think it's primarily because most kids don't have some pressing need to gain arthritis in melee. If kids were playing that too, I'm certain it'd be just as bad.

I dunno, DSP hates the Gamecube controller, so he'd probably call it really dumb while going on about his 4th Place being the top US Super Turbo player that year.
HOWEVER...people speculate that his first full time girlfriend, PandaLee, was a minor when they started talking, so he'd fit right in with the Smash crowd on that front.

It's 2nd place to KOF '98. Majority of KOF players are Korean/Brazillian/Other while majority of 3rd Strike players are from USA

It's poverty as fuck and it's not like they harass Type Moon or whoever begging for big tournament payouts. So they have stayed under the radar of anyone who'd try to take down their asses.

Smash players should have learned to live by this code from day one. Nintendo has been known to be litigious from the very beginning, like when they tried to sue the Game Genie dudes way back in like the early 90s.

The most fucked up thing is that the community, once upon a time, didn't give a fuck about the big company's validation. I don't know what happened to make them suddenly care about Nintendo's blessing.

The one theory that I can think of is maybe Smash players saw how big prize pools were getting in other big E-Sports, i.e. DOTA 2's The International, which has a $40 million prize pool this year, and wanted Nintendo to jump in, just so the players can get more of that $$$.
