I think it depends on why they're a cow on if they can be saved. There was that guy who had an obsession with pads and a museum in his house for it or something, and it turned out he had an actual issue and once it got treated he stopped and realized what a freak he was being.
As long as we have internet hugboxes though telling people everyone is valid, the more ridiculous and outlandish among us won't examine their fucked up lives enough to realize they are the issue not those around. Shame can be bad, but it also does play a seriously important role in social interactions and the emphasis people put on no shaming really gives idiots a pass to be idiots.
