Still, it looks like an actual wallpaper, there's quite a lot of characters in one place and they're not as 'smugly' as his typical stuff...

Everyone in the backrow looks too boyish as that I would say hey are girls. Tat said, I really don't know what to say about the picture in detail, as I am not in Splatton currently. That said, here are some things that stick out to me:
1. For a Splatton picture the thing looks a bit bleak. The squid kids have colors among them, but the way how the entire area looks is kinda bleak. Isn't Splatoon supposed to be looking as if some color fabric has exploded? It just looks too clean for my taste.
2. The kids look kinda like smurfs. As in, while they look a bit more "detailed" than what I see in official Splatoon art, the general poses, their small height and that they really look all a bit too identical gives me vibes as if they are going to fight Gargamel soon instead of shooting each other up with paintballs.
Still, of the wallpapers so far (and Dobson's art in general over the last few weeks) I would say this is the best thing he produced in some time.

If it was not Dobson, I would let that fly as an innocent "hey dont point the gun at me it ain't funny" moment. But it IS Dobbear....
But yeah, compared to the crap he makes, this is somewhat better. Only the grumpy blue one got the horrible facial crowsfeet. At least this looks like he put SOME effort into it.
As for the background, I think he just kind of made it in a haste and put more effort into the characters.

I wonder if the reason Dobby hasn't got any money yet is because of his gift basket reward and Patron's no gambling policy?

He also gave them fangs, which I don't think is supposed to be a thing. They're human children with squid characteristics, so why in the everliving fuck would they be designed with pointy teeth like that? Someone who is more familiar with Splatoon can feel free to correct me.
But yeah I'm actually a little genuinely angry that he had to insert his unhealthy obsession with lesbos into this. Like, wtf. It's not even funny anymore, it's just irritating. Is this supposed to be his own special 'artistic flair' that he adds to all his works or something?

The inklings do have fangs in the game. There's no real reason for it, I guess its just a thing Japan likes to add on to character designs.

Because he spends more time whinning about how trolls write him awful comments on patreon than he does putting work in his art.
At this point I would suggest he just makes a wallpaper featuring characters from the Amazing World of Gumball. Why? Because the characters of that show are so crudly "drawn" in parts, if he fucks that up he can't be helped.

They got tentacle hair, so they are definately not human children so they may or may not get fangs too. I don't see a problem, its teenage alien...something squids. Its not like the fangs are the only alien thing about them and they stand out like a sore Fedobear.
I also wonder why the pink one's hair is like an octopus. The topknot is male, the long hair-tentacles is female, so what's this third one? Is it a pay-for option in game, Dobson's own hair, or perhaps trans-squid hair?

I think it might be an Octoling (The race the Splatoon squids fight against in the single player mode), hackers have found their model but I don't think you can actually play as them yet:

As far as I know, that is some alternate design of a girl squid that came up around two or three weeks after the game's release.
Look, I don't want to rain on anyones parade here, but my personal criticism and some legit ones by others aside, I really think this wallpaper is certainly NOT the worst thing Dobson could have done or that deserves our attention. Frakly, I thought last month's wallpaper was a lot worse, as it was just so bland and completely missing the point of anything Dobson wanted to convey.

Ummm... well, it's certainly... better than his last attempts, I guess.
Did anyone get the resolution for this thing? The last two wallpapers have some extremely distorted resolutions that didn't fit most computer monitors.
