The main quest isn't a tutorial and buying skips is peak faggotry. Just power through it. It's not even as bad as it used to be anymore.

I wouldn’t recommend it not just because of the story, but because you’re going to be bombarded with class abilities and you’re going to be totally lost about how to play them. Once you get up to Heavensward at 50 it’ll be much much better. Trust me, it’s worth the slog.

Unfortunately, you picked the class in competition to be the slowest starting out. Once you get your job stone, it'll get better, but still slowly. You essentially get a new rotation every 10 lvls for BLM. The MSQs throw XP at you once they start send you to other cities. Ignore the urge to grab and complete every side quest, their rewards are close to worthless. If the MSQ starts to outlevel you (it won't), a single run of a roulette, especially a daily run, should push you back up. At lvl 30 you can unlock the pvp roulette; there's four modes that rotate daily, each one is brainless, no one expects shit from anyone they're grouped with, and until around lvl 45 a daily run gives you two levels. They "only" give you one past that point.

Does that also give you a job at 80 as well as completely skipping through MSQ. For me I just have a hard time enough at an expansion job trying to learn everything that's thrown at you with all the unlocks. I went to unlock Samuari and Dancer and was just like fuck all this

No, skips only go to 70 right now because they want you to at least put in some effort getting to 80.

It only goes to 70 right now. Palace of the dead can help with learning expansion jobs, at least until 60.

Apparently what happens in the benchmark trailer is not guaranteed to happen in game. The shadowbringers benchmark showed almost nothing that happened in game.

I can't see any possible reason to do so until you've finished all the content up through Heavensward, as that's how far into the game that you can play until the free trial locks you out of content, otherwise you're just paying for sub time in order to play content you can already currently play for free.

The SHB benchmark really just showed only a couple of things:
-Areas you visit
-Looks at glam we've seen revealed prior through Yoshi-P PLL's
-New enemies (including the overworld bosses)
-One dungeon (Which they already showed off during the media tour)
-Some glimpses of new skills but nothing concrete at the time.
It's really just a showcase with the new expansions coat of paint and will give you some ideas of what you'll see. Archaeotania in the SHB one was shown in Il Mheg and we know by the final game they are nowhere even near there, but had it there to show off the game and it's how it's handling the zone, characters, and effects all going out.

Real purpose of those lists: to let the streamer know when they're supposed to freak out over something so their tumblr/twitter-addled audiences can appreciate how woke they are. The streamer attached to that second list really goes overboard with shit like fleeing to the bathroom for the Tesleen scene.
Must be fucking exhausting catering to that to keep just over 100 people watching in their channel while Chadmongold is openly appreciating every catgirl he runs across and calling everything silly names to the tune of a consistent 100k+ viewers. No wonder they're seething so hard.

Asmongold at least seems to be having fun (even if that may be a front for his viewers).
Every time I try watching some FFXIV streamer it feels boring as fuck. Why watch when I can play it myself and get x100 more fun that way? But then again, I don't fucking understand streamer culture.
