Is Pink Floyds "The Wall" overrated?

Is it over rated

The music is excellent and the story over the course of the album is amazing. It's my favorite album of all time in fact.

The Wall's fine but the second disc drags, especially side c. Between "Hey You" and "Comfortably Numb" is snoozesville.

Animals is the best Waters era album.

I kind of have a soft spot for Final Cut, but I only ever listen to it anymore for "Not Now, John" and "Two Suns at Sunset."

But we all know Saucerful of Secrets is the best overall.

The movie version of Nobody Home features the dog known as Nigger from the 1955 movie The Dam Busters

Personally, one of my favorite albums

I would say no, if only because the perception of The Wall as better than Dark Side or as PF's best is a known to be false by any fan who has heard the band's full discography. It is a good album, high on the list because they put out a lot of junk when Gilmour took off and essentially anything after The Final Cut is entirely missable trash. Animals, Dark Side, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Wish You Were Here, and Zabriskie Point all place higher for me. Only when you measure it in tandem with the film are either pieces of media in the title's name really top tier as a work, but overrated, I would not call it.

No, I think it's absolutely brilliant, it delves into dark subject matter in a way media rarely tends to go as deep into, what it has to say about the cycles of violence, how psychology can influence politics, it's all very fascinating stuff and it's more relevant now than it was when I was listening to it as a teenager in the 2000s.

#1 Dark Side of the Moon
#2 Wish you were here
#3 The Wall
I can agree with this ranking.

Dark Side is the only Pink Floyd album I really revisit at all. Always felt like The Wall was a neat concept and not a bad album overall, but it worked much better as a soundtrack than it did on its own. Then again, I saw the movie before I listened to the album so maybe that influenced my perception.

It’s an alright album, but it’s definitely overrated. There’s better Pink Floyd, there’s better rock operas. There’s better stories about disillusionment and isolation. Any album that ends up a double record ends up having about a single side of good music.

IDK I enoyed 'the wall'. It's a pretty decent classic. Is PF overrated? Probably. Most 'classic' band/music is overrated into retardation.

My ex/her family loved the beatles. Fuck the Beatles.

I love DSoTM way more than The Wall. Like, TW works as individual tracks or just as an album, but the actual movie is dumb and I can’t sit through it. Also, I hate Roger Waters because of his ego.

>no love for Animals
