Actually, she paid Dobbers's way a lot of the time, found him the airport job, etc. (at least according to his DA wordvomits). YHWH alone knows why; she's not model material, but certainly she could have done better.

On the other hand, the straight dude to straight girl ratio in art schools is crazy low, so her choices might have been Dob or some weird guy with knives who mutters to himself.

Oh god.... there's a torrent of really well done art and then Dobson closes the whole topic with an image of his own making, emphasizing how jarring the difference in quality of execution and designs are.

Why bother, Dobs have proved over and over again he's his own worst enemy and the most efficient one at finishing him off. Nobody drove him out of DA, he even blocked the comments from all the site and still he "got trolled" (according to him) and ultimately quit because reasons. I'm sure his fate in Patreon is sealed since his fans are already telling Dobs they can't give him money (check his FB) and the ones doing it now will more likely cut him off because they won't get art in return or simply because they won't feel like doing it anymore. And since DA is out of the equation, his only hugbox will be Twitter where most of his complains are only answered but a handful of people, mostly people from this forum.

Even then, some basic anatomy and proportions go into them. and his ribcage looks like it makes out at least 65% of the torso.

EDIT: Also fine, won't bother with Dobson and his dA dizzing. I should just mention, I did not want to defend his fans there. I just think that level of arrogance should lead to some sort of instant kharma bitch slap. Which thinking aout it, comes sooner or later anyway.

Spongebob is an anthro porifera. This according to Dobson's own attempts is supposed to be as close to a more human design as possible. If he wants to do weirder/more basic human designs as you can find in Butch Hartmann's stuff or many cartoons nowadays, fine. But then he has to be consistent with the style. And I think everyone knows where he wants to go with Alex.
And looking on it again, it is sad to say that really, the best character designs he had for his antisocial pirate crew was probably around 2010/11 when he was channeling Rumiko Takahashi.
