The original Rosie was a fictional character from a folk song. The model for the Westinghouse painting did quit factory work after 2 weeks at a steel press cause she feared she would damage her hands, her name was Geraldine Doyle.

So yes, the brave "feminist" icon was a scared 17 year old who posed to get extra cash and didn't actually work in those dirty men's jobs for more than a few weeks.
