I like how even Woke people can see the hypocrisy, you only truly stand for something if you're willing to make a stand for it when it goes against the grain, not when it's the most easy and convenient for you, otherwise you're just blowing smoke up people's asses.

Maybe there's hope for us yet if even Woke people can understand this.
The same Alex Hirsch who directed his fans to leave troll like messages to a RNC hotline? If anything, he’s more into making it more about himself than being “woke”. It’s even funny when on Twitter, he’s more known for that than the last season of Gravity Falls.

He’s almost old enough to be a Luddite and not use the Internet to at least look up the words “Disney China” on the search results page.

I think it's because so many people except for insane twitter liberals (who only care about voting blue and taking up any issue that makes them look good compared to the usual "woke" sorts on Twitter) have seen Disney constantly say "Look at our first gay character" shit all the time along with how it is widely hated on Twitter for Disney filming Mulan near a Chinese concentration camp with the leading actress being extremely Pro-China. Really most people have been growing to hate Disney for this shallow pandering.

I mean he's right that Disney doesn't have a gay agenda since they just use gays to pander to those who care about those sorts of LGBT and give these "gay characters" minor roles or make it so quick that it can be cut out for international release to not upset audiences in foreign countries. This also applies to black people with how they minimalize their role in posters.

So why do you think the movie makers made such specific use of the breed she would go on to try and skin.

Because continuity and recognition is nice. Their puppies end up the two main dalmations in the 101 Dalmations story and it means you can put dalmations on the posters. It's not that deep.

I think the most retarded issue here is to assume that anyone would need a backstory for a woman who skins puppies for fashion when we have actual humans doing shit like this without being "villains". How a man decided to do crime dressed like a clown, sure. That's very much out of the ordinary. But a fashionista who doesn't care that an animal is killed to satisfy vanity doesn't need much explanation.

Besides, it's not like cruella had any vendetta against the Dalmatians or any dog. She just liked fur.

The reason Disney execs thought of this was because Disney villains are popular and they wanted to cash in on how well Joker did presumably. Ironically if they were desperate to make an interesting movie going into the backstory of a character literally any other female disney villain would've at least been more interesting from a movie perspective.

I didn't think there was any room for a single Cruella movie, how are they contemplating to make a second one?
What is there even left to say now?
When it was first announced Cruella was intended to be a prequel to the live-action 101 Dalmatians from 1996, but since they decided to race-bend Roger and Anita they get to remake it as Cruella 2.

I'm just thankful at least it wasn't a remake (or demake, with their reputation nowadays) of a movie, and was its own thing. I was really into the fashions in the movie even though normally I don't care about "haute couture". I think it reawakened in me an interest in cheesy 70s aesthetic. If it was a movie about some women in the fashion industry of the era trying to one-up one another I'd be down. And there was some slight humor at times (i.e. seeing the Baroness just test a taser out on her employees, or the "stodgy" expressions of uppity characters towards Cruella)

Cruella's character didn't make me hate her, just feel like she switched on a dime after trying out the persona once. She's not enough. Make her evil, skin the dogs. I was also ready to groan when she started out as a "plucky independent brat", but it did mellow out somewhat. She still got her adoptivemom killed by being so delinquent they had to move in the first place. Dalmations didn't kill her. You did, kid. The plot twist of her real mom is absolute cliche.

I don't care about race lifting Anita and George, it's honestly predictable. And Anita was cute imo. But either way I can't see how they are going to do a sequel, unless they just reboot the plot instead of re-doing the animated movie. Maybe that'll be more interesting. I kind of want to read the original novels now(it's a series I believe).

6/10, one of the better Disney live actions imo, but that is really not saying much.

(Also now that I'm thinking about it I can't remember the last time I've seen a dalmation in real life. No one has one around here. They seem like good doggos, if high maintenance)

Did Disney report how much money the film made? Because it could be the usual case of trying to make up a feeling a film made well by announcing a sequel that will never be made.

Anyways I think if I had to make a Cruella backstory I'd do it like Yoshikage Kira.

Just swap Hands with Furs and Kira’s gender.
Boom, better Cruella movie
