I'm just thankful at least it wasn't a remake (or demake, with their reputation nowadays) of a movie, and was its own thing. I was really into the fashions in the movie even though normally I don't care about "haute couture". I think it reawakened in me an interest in cheesy 70s aesthetic. If it was a movie about some women in the fashion industry of the era trying to one-up one another I'd be down. And there was some slight humor at times (i.e. seeing the Baroness just test a taser out on her employees, or the "stodgy" expressions of uppity characters towards Cruella)
Cruella's character didn't make me hate her, just feel like she switched on a dime after trying out the persona once. She's not enough. Make her evil, skin the dogs. I was also ready to groan when she started out as a "plucky independent brat", but it did mellow out somewhat. She still got her adoptivemom killed by being so delinquent they had to move in the first place. Dalmations didn't kill her. You did, kid. The plot twist of her real mom is absolute cliche.
I don't care about race lifting Anita and George, it's honestly predictable. And Anita was cute imo. But either way I can't see how they are going to do a sequel, unless they just reboot the plot instead of re-doing the animated movie. Maybe that'll be more interesting. I kind of want to read the original novels now(it's a series I believe).
6/10, one of the better Disney live actions imo, but that is really not saying much.
(Also now that I'm thinking about it I can't remember the last time I've seen a dalmation in real life. No one has one around here. They seem like good doggos, if high maintenance)
