See, I think it would have been funny if, instead of saying anything after "isn't it obvious?" all the girls kind of exchanged knowing looks.
I mean, essentially anything is funnier than rampant unabashed sexism.

Okay I'm up to the 2009 strips and so far this is pretty much the Bubsy pilot in comic form with pirates. Everything I could say about Bubsy also applies to Alex ze Pirate.


The only significant difference is Alex ze Pirate has more fanservice than Bubsy. And by "fan" I mean Dobson.

Now I'm up to the 2010 strips and I think Dobson is trying to have a story. Kind of? It's still really bad. I mean, I've read some bad stuff in my time. I read Disneyfan01's magnum opis. I've read every issue of Sonichu. At least with those guys I think they were probably doing the best they could. I mean, I think they were writing stories they wanted to hear.

This is part of the reason I made the comparison to Bubsy, because Bubsy feels like a character created by a bunch of out of touch executives trying to emulate what was cool in the 90s. That's all Alex ze Pirate is. Just some out of touch loser trying way too hard to be hip. The only time I see any passion in Alex ze Pirate is when one of the female leads is showing her breasts. Once in a while there will be a strip where I'll think Dobson actually cares about these characters, only for it to be followed by a comic centered around breasts or lesbians. It's so bad.

The best thing I can say about AzP is that the strips are very light and thus it feels pretty short. It's painful but quick.

Dobson, there is no reason on earth for you to reboot this. Let it die.
