This is actually true, but not in the way Phil thinks. Or likes.
Even that's too brave for him. He was the kid who talked all kinds of shit after he got home from school.
The funny thing is, that'd not be true at all, if Phil were sensible and understood that he shouldn't ask for more instead of downsizing.
Phil can clearly live as a full-time streamer for years to come, as long as he's willing to live within his means. The only reason he seems to be in a bad situation is because of his greed.

Kind of a boring way for cows to collide right now. DSP has no reason to stop, he's making bank right now, losing his parnership is nowhere near enough for him to realise change is coming for him. DSP will need tips to stop coming in for a good while before we see the chair start shaking and the pigsweat really set in. Then his reaction will be to find a new enabler for his grift, not dropping his internet career. Statements to that end are just vapid and make him look better than he deserves.

Speaking of gin tweets, he also made a Certified Dave Classic dumbfuck comment where he's bitching about those stupid nudniks beating the game quicker than him which means that they're wrong since Phil is the Infallible Human Who Is Always Correct™
I mean for fuck's sake, a friend of mine asked me to watch (or at least listen and shoot the shit) his streams of RE Village and it took him 2 streams to beat the game, at 11 hours. That friend is also really meticulous when it comes to bumping into every wall and examining every room for hidden and optional items and shit, even on first playthroughs. However, even he can't compare to the King of Stalling.

Yeah, but your friend probably paid attention. For such a linear game, it's amazing how Phil can walk off in the opposite direction after being told explicably where to go.

Absolutely. Besides the obvious lapses in gameplay during the streaming time like prestream and breaks, if you add up all the time he stops the gameplay to update the leaderboard, read tips, call someone in chat an idiot, rant about nothingburgers, or just beg for tips it's a huge time sink.

It really is such a weird-ass flex. Like he's trying to discredit other people for...what? Not playing the game properly? Isn't that what he always whines about with the From Software fanboys? Does he think "streamer who takes a long-ass time to beat games" is a desirable quality that people are looking for? And if you are a new viewer tuning in to see someone who's not "rushing" it...and you quickly realize why Phil takes such a long fucking time to do anything, with his unintuitive shoutout system, incredibly long breaks, and Blue's Clues style commentary, and you fucking drop out.
Not to mention that his slow "playstyle" gets him in trouble with...himself. He throws a tantrum when a game takes longer to beat than he expects (Origami King), he hates it when he can't clock out exactly on time (Nemesis boss fight), he doesn't want to play games that don't have constant saving/checkpoints to accommodate him being a slug (Returnal). Of course, he always blames other people when something doesn't line up with his schedule, but fuck man. He really has to grasp at straws for something that makes him stand out, even if it's an outright flaw.

He's always been this way, if someone does something X (be it faster, better, whatever) than him, he finds some way to spin it like his way of doing it is superior because he ALWAYS has to come out on top in his mind. Get a game sooner than him? You're a kiss ass, or you broke the law. Beat a game faster than him? You're playing wrong, and just rushing through like a morahn! More subs than him on Twitch? You're a clown who entertains children while he is a dignified variety streamer for adults.
