Just, so much to unpack in this video. Such a fucking classic. Circa 2017 DSP was just the epitome of DSP-related content. A perfect amalgamation of his “business” failing, his girlfriend leaving him, an increase in BTS drinking, having to adapt to a different content producing medium, and cultural changes happening within the streaming world produced some of Phil’s most iconic lolcow moments.
Imagine explaining your laziness and your inability to adapt your craft as being genuine instead of portraying yourself as an entitled fuck up. In what world is refusing to stop recording raw, unedited, low-effort vidya gameplay genuine? Industries and domains evolve, they don’t work in a vacuum. Phil had so many chances to become a successful YTer, he fucked all of them up.
The pig’s cognitive dissonance is simply amazing. He refuses to believe that a formula that worked back in 2008 through 2011ish cannot be successful almost 10 years later. His brain just won’t compute. It’s everyone watching highly edited and condensed content who are wrong and stupid, not him for refusing to change his formula as he even confirms such a fact.
It’s literally the Simpsons meme with Principal Skinner who questions his decision-making when pursuing Bart as he was skipping school. Turns out visiting a museum during the day is not the most popular form of entertainment for kids, but no, they are wrong and he is right.
Same logic applies here. Absolutely delusional the way Phil processes reality to cope with his failures but oh so juicy to digest as a spectator.

Any game with difficulty is Dark Souls. Crash Team Racing? Yeah, that game is Dark Souls! My favorite was when he kept dying in Super Mario 3D World a few months back and he was comparing an easy ass game to Dark Souls.
