She has bought Differin, she was showing it off on her IG stories. I don't know if she's started using it, but I'm sure she will use it as soon as the pool opens and she can get burned to a crisp while lounging on a floatie all day.

My theory is her skin is combination. Parts of it are rapidly aged and liver spotty and others as greasy and pimply as a teenage boy with pores as big as a sinkhole.

differin is great, and it would help her...if she stuck with it. but the thing with kai is that she's like 5 years old mentally and wants instant gratification. it takes a while for any new skincare product to start showing results, and i don't think she has the patience to stick with one item for long, just like with all of her hobbies and makeup palettes. she likes collecting lotions and potions to say that she's tried and "laaaves" it. it's easier to just smear makeup all over and hide those lumps and bumps instead of sticking with a skin routine and letting her skin heal.

another thing is that the skincare she uses seems to be cheap drugstore crap targeted for teens. adult acne is different from teen acne. i think you can get away with using harsher products when you're a teen, at least i could. i think your skin gets more fragile as you age. i was using super mega extra strenth zap zit 10% benzoyl peroxide salicylic acid ointments with no problem but now my skin screams at me if i even look at stridex pads. kailyn's dumping random, harsh chemicals on her face and then slathering up with makeup with random ingredients that might irritate her skin further but she wouldn't know because her skin is just constantly being abused and subsequently looks and probably feels like shit

And it doesn't help that she gets Retin-A and similar creams, and uses them while she roasts in the sun. I've told her she needs to avoid sun exposure while using retinoids, but she replies she uses sunscreen. Like that's going to help.

Just using a good cleanser, a washcloth and warm water, would improve her skin tremendously. If she used those three things, her caked on expired foundation, garish shades, clashing tones, and overall clownishness, might not look as nearly bad. But since she refuses to make peace with water and refuses to allow it to be an ongoing part of her life, she's going to continue looking like a giant pile of pustile-infested, carbuncle laden, boil-generating, greasy, stinky roadkill.
