Most of these modern libertarians are people I'd describe as right-neoliberals. They basicly check all the boxes of a neoliberal, exect maybe they're a bit more pro-gun, and maybe they are actually anti-war or something. They're the kind of people who complain that the system is rigged, but then continue to play within its confines. They just call themselves libertarians because "degenerate, drug-using anti-SJW" doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Until they decide to have the kids, then they enjoy the same 18 years of tax breaks anyways.

We have 50+ years of data showing that when women that grow up in an environment where they have the choice not to have kids, surprise surprise, some of them choose not to. The problem is that in some countries this has led to fertility dropping below the replacement rate.

And when your population goes below replacement rates (something like 2.1-2.2 babies per woman), your population peaks, and then starts to decline. What's worse, since everyone is living longer, it puts a strain on your social welfare systems, because you have more retirees and fewer people working to support them.

If you want to avoid population decline, and all the problems that come with it, you have two options: incentivize your existing population to have more kids, or loosen your immigration policies.
