Porn is a global industry, with workers from all the over world, no kidding that there are different ethical standards and no small number of nutbags in that industry. It will take time for the stigma against porn to fully fade, since not that long ago it was still illegal to star in or produce pornography in many places, including the US. Combine that with a whole new generation of moral guardians trying to get a new stigma going and it will probably be a while before you see a dramatic decrease in mentally unstable people in that industry. If you want to help with that, maybe try not shaming people for simply being involved in that profession?

The solution to that problem is to not have laws against buying or selling sex in the first place. That would also solve the problem of prostitutes not having access to proper mental health care, since they'd have an easier time getting it without having to worry about the cops.

That's easy, because crime in the netherlands is largely being done by Morrocans. But it's neither their exclusive domain nor do they dominate it sufficiently to control even 50% of it.

You weren't advocating for legal brothels, you were advocating for legal prostitution. It's not precisely the same. It's perhaps a distinction without difference: The human trafficking will use whatever it can as a shield and it's helpful if there are supposedly legal avenues to hide it under. Your claim was that prostitutes would have better access to mental health if it were legal, for example, but fail to realize how the industry would grow when there are fewer restraints on it. It's not like one can ever eliminate prostitution and perhaps that isn't desirable in the first place, but the contention that it would make prostitutes safer is one built on shaky grounds.

One of the reasons pimps in the netherlands have such an easy time, is that prostitutes can operate openly as long as they're intimidated sufficiently (including either blackmail, threats against family, controlling passport, etc). The attempts to help these women with mandated talks with support people isn't really helpful because the girls are threatened and will mostly only say everything is alright.

Secondly, I'll also say that a given profession being legal doesn't mean you can afford to be slack about being forced into that profession illegally. There's always ways to break up criminal gangs, and police can take them down for essentially importing slaves regardless of whether the job their being forced to do is legal or not.

What "new" stigma? Prostitution was never considered okay by the general public. It's still illegal in most countries. The average person would never tolerate their daughter going into prostitution or pornography, despite more and more young women entering the sex industry in recent times.

The prostitute has always lived in the context of shame. Nobody brags to their friends about how they bedded a prostitute. Nobody talks to their family about the prostitute they met the night before.

It's not actually legal in las vegas. For one prostitution is only allowed in licensed brothels & 2nd in only specific counties. The legal counties include Churchill, Esmeralda, Lander, Mineral, Nye, & Storey county. In Elko county it's only legal in the communities of Elko, Carlin, Wendover, & Wells. With Humboldt it's only allowed in Winnemucca. Lyon county only allows it in the Moundhouse, & finally White Pine county only allows it in the city of Ely.
