No. Just no. Batman is a modern mythos.
Giving Batman a new origin is like rebooting Jesus.
In my humble opinion, Batmans tale resonates as much with peoples hearts as the "Monomyth" does.
Batman is a tale how determination and a strong character can overcome revenge and injustice.
Batman is a tale (if not THE tale) about how a hero is born through loss and grief.
And in my humble opinion: "Batman" is a tale loss and growing up.

And this could be a reason why Dobson hates Batman so much. Doboson is not determined, he is not the hero he wanted to be and he hasn't grown up. He just got bitter. But Bruce Wayne, screw him, he is rich, so he had the possibility to become the hero.

Also, the video is just a bunch of fast blabbered overanalyzing. Simply put: Bob doesn't realize that Batman isn't one continuous storyline, but multiple reboots of the same character, that all start over at the genesis/early days of the character. And he doesn't even acknowledges a story idea like "Batman Incorporated".
Hey, if Batman needs a new origin with his reboot, I propose that Alex ze Pirate could use a new origin with the reboot.

For instance, Alex could be an orphaned girl whose parents were murdered by pirates at an early age and she was taken in by said crew, but instead caught the captain's eye as said pirate captain had always fancied a family and he could live said dream through a surrogate daughter like Alex. He raises her in his own unique pirate-y manner, turning her into a swashbuckling scoundrel and his very own protege that soon earns the favor of him and the crew in taking over once he decides to take his booty and retire to some island somewhere. Her unique upbringing as a child of pirates raised in a cruel and unforgiving world has adjusted her to the feel of the ships on the high seas, viewing rogues and scoundrels, people normally repulsive to the normal man, as her own family, and has instilled in her a great distrust of the justice system that goes around killing or arresting her "family."

Peggy can be the loyalest follower and closest friend of Alex's surrogate father and later Alex herself. A grizzled man whose business fell through and whose life was nothing but hardship and disappointment, he eventually turned to drink, to gambling, and soon found himself roped in with piracy. While he was never the greatest fighter, the sharpest marksman, or even the fastest at swabbing the poop deck, his tenacity and unwavering loyalty earned him a place at the captain's side, and when Alex eventually took charge of the ship, his loyalty to her was similarly unflinching. With one finally thing left to live, fight, and die for, he will defend his ship and Alex to the very last, to protect the one thing in life that actually had meaning to him.

Atea can be a bounty hunter, a girl raised in a strict police family, and one of the very people that Alex despised. A marksman after Alex's bounty, a failed attempt on her life finds Atea stuck in Alex's ship on the high seas, where she bargains with fabled treasure and the possibility of riches and loot beyond anyone's dreams to avoid being cast into the sea. The conflicting ideologies and upbringings put both on edge, and from their tense relationship based on a lie would soon blossom an unwavering friendship as Atea proves her skill and her bravery in defending not only herself, but those that she's associated with - even if said people threatened to feed her to the sharks when they first met.

Sam is the newbie. A wistful young boy who was brought in by the tantalizing tales of "adventure on the high seas" and "riches beyond any landlubber's dreams" and stowed away on Alex's ship, much to her chagrin as Alex only discovered him as he was through the third barrel of rations. Demoted to the lowest possible rank you can give to a member on the pirate's crew besides "target practice" and "getting thrown overboard," his ambition and his spirit eventually earns him Alex's respect as he aspires to live up to the dreams of being a pirate that compelled him to join on his adventure, even if it turns out most of it was a bunch of horseshit.

Talus is a beaver on some island somewhere that never joins the crew because beavers aren't fucking part of a pirate crew.

Together, the four travel the high seas in search of treasure and adventure, constantly on the run from the Imperial Navy led by Atea's own father and a cadre of rival pirates set to dethrone Alex and plunder her of the riches that she owned. Oh, and there might be some romantic shit somewhere, I dunno. They can put that in somewhere in post. Maybe make Atea a lesbian or something and call one of her signature moves Lesbian Kick... wait no that would be retarded.

Hey, if Batman needs a new origin with his reboot, I propose that Alex ze Pirate could use a new origin with the reboot.

For instance, Alex could be an orphaned LESBIAN girl whose LESBIAN parents were murdered by LESBIAN pirates at an early age and she was taken in by said LESBIAN crew, but instead caught the LESBIAN captain's eye as said LESBIAN pirate captain had always fancied a LESBIAN family and he could live said LESBIAN dream through a surrogate LESBIAN daughter like Alesbian. He raises her in his own unique pirate-y LESBIAN manner, turning her into a swashbuckling LESBIAN scoundrel and his very own LESBIAN protege that soon earns the LESBIAN favor of him and the LESBIAN crew in taking over once he decides to take his LESBIAN booty and retire to some LESBIAN island somewhere. Her unique LESBIAN upbringing as a LESBIAN child of LESBIAN pirates raised in a cruel and unforgiving LESBIAN world has adjusted her to the LESBIAN feel of the LESBIAN ships on the high LESBIAN seas, viewing LESBIAN rogues and LESBIAN scoundrels, people normally repulsive to the normal LESBIAN man, as her own LESBIAN family, and has instilled in her a great LESBIAN distrust of the LESBIAN justice system that goes around killing or arresting her LESBIAN "family."

It's tropey but I'd still read the hell out of that.

I'm admittedly a bit of a TV Tropes sperg. If I'm not at all trying, I'll default to tropes.

As lazy as it is, at least the tropes on TV tropes are established writing ideologies that generally work most times and can be better for making relatable characters than THEY'RE ALL LESBIANS.

You can use tropes to your advantage. I think you've done that well. I could see a lot of interesting stories coming out of the crew as you've written them.

@ZehnBoat

I can actually see Dobson rolling with this idea, right down to trying to explain how you can have biological lesbian parents.

(Yes, yes, I know, artificial insemination and all that jazz, but I doubt Dobson is that smart to think of that.)

Artificial insemination, genetic engineering and all those stuffs are good for sci-fi. This is fantasy, so the only thing Dobson can use is.... LESBIAN MAGIC! ( I tried to google that one, but all the images came up were either MLP nightmares, or Legend of Korra fan art that was always, literally always better than Dobson's own.)

Edit: Wait, I'm implying Dobson would care enough about his world's consistency to keep tech-level consitent with the fantasy 16-18th century pirate theme.
