This is his is dumbest retweet

ACTUALLY I'm gonna don the white knight armor here... but for different reasons.

The guy that Dobson retweeted? That man is Grey Carter. He's a webcomic writer on the Escapist known mostly for Critical Miss, which I can generously describe as a caustic critique and satire of everything nerdy. One thing that I know he particularly likes to do is take some of his opinions and massively inflate them (lol) to an overly large and absurd degree for the lulz... or sometimes just do things because he knows it's bait and will cause "ze controversy."

For instance, he doesn't like Neon Genesis Evangelion that much, but from what I know, he doesn't go into uber serious hate rants on it. However, when he addresses it in Critical Miss? He talks about NGE being deep and shit while posting pics of NGE products, like toothpaste and fuck pillows.

Fuck Yahtzee. GREY is the definition of a professional troll.

But this actually makes the retweet even dumber. Because Grey's comment on hentai? ... He's probably joking.

At one point a few months ago, Tick and Dobson were talking about doing a podcast. Grey the Tick was even responding to Dobson. I'm not sure what happened exactly, but Grey the Tick seems to have discovered Dobby is a douchebag who is 110% serious about his opinions, because while Dobby has been sniffing Grey the Tick's farts, Grey the Tick hasn't been responding at all anymore.

I can't think of any way, a podcast would benefit from Andrew Dobson being a part of it...

...wait. I can.

Although, where Karl seems to be an absolutely likable person...

Dobson on Watchmen dijo:
I missed seeing Watchmen in the theater, so when I saw it available for RedBox Rental, I was overjoyed. Everyone around me said how fantastic a movie it was and how great a comic book adaption too. Nothing but praise from the fans. It’s technically stunning with visual feasts for the eyes and a moral message too. It’s epic, it’s edgy, and it’s smart. It’s everything that I should enjoy in a comic book style movie...

... so why did I not like it?

Well... here’s my breakdown of why I think it didn’t strike a chord with me...

1. None of the characters were likeable. You have to have SOMEONE to root for during a movie, because if none of them are enjoyable then there’s no emotional connection with the audience. Just when I thought I would like a certain character, they did or said something which completely pissed me off. None of them were redeemable.

2. It was overly graphic and violent. I’m sure the reason behind that was because it’s trying to make a commentary on society’s violence at large, but some of the stuff I saw I really didn’t need to see. It was just plain disgusting in it’s graphicness, and it was violent towards animals too (which is an immediate gut dislike reaction.) “If you kill an animal in a movie you’ve automatically lost 50% of your audience” as someone famous once said.

3. It was slow. The overuse of slow motion throughout the entire movie made it feel like it was longer than it actually was. Within the first 15 minutes I was getting bored with it already. I can understand using it from time to time to punctuate important pieces of information... but for almost the entire movie? That’s far too much. When everything is important, nothing is.

4. Lost allegory. The story takes place in a “what if” scenario (an improbable one at that) which didn’t really connect with today’s social feeling. I dunno, this is the hardest one for me to pin down... but the closest I could find to anything relating to today’s news topics was someone mentioning socialism towards the beginning. I guess it just didn’t feel “relevant” to me. Maybe if this was made in the 80's when it was set, it would’ve been... but for today.. I dunno...

So... that’s my verdict. There was a lot of stuff that could’ve been trimmed, edited, cut, and simply not used at all. None of the acting was bad, and the special FX were top notch, and the writing was good and the story was epic. By all rights it should’ve been an awesome movie. But in the end it just left me feeling empty.

I’m not trying to be negative... I just didn’t like it. And I don’t understand why so many comic book people were holding this movie up to such a lofty pillar of accomplishment. It was so-so, and nothing more. Am I alone in this thinking? Am I just overtly cynical? What did you think and do you agree with me?
Unlikeable characters. Uh...wasn't that the point?

Interesting to see that his "no fictional animals must be harmed" stance existed back then as well.

Should be interesting to see if he responds in any way to his sempai finding the forum.

Did he ever have anything to say about Iwata passing?

So Dobsons a "fan" a depeche mode.....

Maybe he should quit his "personal jesus" shit on twitter so we can "enjoy the silence".

Sorrrrrry couldn't resist it.

Watchmen has no likeable characters? Night Owl II and Silk Spectre are pretty much normal people, they're pretty interesting, sympathetic and well written.
Yes, but they have flaws. And characters can't have flaws unless they're written to be butt monkeys. Why just look at Alze ze Pirate. Perfect unflawed Mary SU-I mean, characters.

So now that Brianna Wu is going apeshit over the Farms, does that mean Dobknob is gonna pile on, too? Are we looking at a catastrophic singularity the likes of which Roland Emmerich could only dream about?
Honestly, if if he couldn't attract Wu, I doubt he'd be able to personally attract the forums.

Though you never know. I would love to see the shitstorm that could come from it. Bonus points for if he actually joins.

Seriously doubt dobson would choose to engage on a battleground not of his choosing.
Dobson is so used to be able to block anyone who disagrees with him or call him on his BS he simply wouldnt be able to function on this board.
Hes a pussy, he avoids any conflict unless he can swing the banhammer and make the bad people go away.
Same for Wu......Wu is a pussy but at-least she has a gang of sycophants to hurl at us and shit post.

Good point...
So... I take it, this means the unreachable ideal of a perfect body that's force-fed to younger generations concerning males not only tells them they should be build like the world champion of a body-building contest, but also risk their health by dehydrating themselves to increase their muscle's definition?
Or in other terms:
Women are told to be skinny with a nice set of TnA and also wear skimpy outfits, while men are told to be build unrealistically muscular to a point where it's a big health concern?

Naaaaaaah! That would totally ruin the narrative of oppression feminists and their so called SJW-lapdogs try to construct, so it's about turning women into sex objects and men into power fantasies! So progressive!

That's the long ans short of it with SJWs and their "agendas".

Also, can't say I'm surprised Dobbo decided to retweet something Diaz posted. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Dobson's commentary on the Watchmen gave me headache.

1. None of the characters were likeable. You have to have SOMEONE to root for during a movie, because if none of them are enjoyable then there’s no emotional connection with the audience. Just when I thought I would like a certain character, they did or said something which completely pissed me off. None of them were redeemable.
The characters don't need to be likable, enjoyable or redeemable to have emotional connection with the audience. Negative emotions are still emotions, Dobson. Something pissed you off, so there was a connection. An emotional response.
Besides, one of the points of the movie is that world isn't black and white and heroes can be villains to some. Realism. Amazing concept, isn't it?

in it’s graphicness, and it was violent towards animals too (which is an immediate gut dislike reaction.) “If you kill an animal in a movie you’ve automatically lost 50% of your audience” as someone famous once said.
A little girl was raped and murdered, then fed to dogs. BUT THEY KILLED THE DOOOOOGS...!

The story takes place in a “what if” scenario (an improbable one at that) which didn’t really connect with today’s social feeling.
We might not be on a verge of nuclear conflict (even though Russia farts about it from time to time), but again, Dobson doesn't understand that sometimes the setting can be just an excuse to tell something more timeless. Watchmen tackled more issues than Cold War, one that universal that is morality and morality conflicts. But then again, empathy towards the opponents and understanding their actions is a concept alien to Dobby bear here.

What else would I expect from someone who names a city "Sarkeesistan" and calls it worldbuilding.

So lets so how popular Dobsons works are as a writer.....previously in the thread I showed how piss poor Alex Ze Pirate was received but hes written so much more than that bag of shit.
Formera vol one - amazon sales ranking 3,934,556- goodreads average rating 2.17
Formera vol two - amazon sales ranking 4,117,202 - goodreads average rating 3.0
So on average 4 million other titles haves sold far better than our Dobbles
In terms of goodreads rating his average is mostly based on one sock puppet who gave him five stars for both volumes.....his average rating with this taken out of the picture is 1.5 stars. Even if you took the arguement
"well its a comic I could view online for free....why the fuck would I buy it ?" theres nothing to stop his fanbase coming along and bumping up his rating and posting positive reviews.

A quick check revealed that the self published book my friend put on amazon for a laugh which only 3 people own........still managed to break into the top 3 million.

But then I got bored and started typing random stuff into amazon....

Concrete planet - the strange and fascinating history of the worlds most common material - amazon sales rank 142,694 - average goodreads rating 3.62

A Book about CONCRETE has been better received by the public than dobbles comics.

And since all comparisons inevitably lead to Hitler
Mein Kampf - Hitlers difficult first book - amazon sales rank 550,367 - Average goodreads rating 3.02

Draw your own conclusion

Hello. So, I've been a lurker here for a few weeks, but I've disliked Andrew "smug-face" Dobson for quite a bit longer. That being said, I have my own idea about why Preston dislikes Batman (that's still relevant, right?):

Sorry to go and post something so underwhelming, but I had no other place to vent with my scribbles. I'll be on my way, then.
Oh god, I love it. A perfect example of a minimalistic, yet effective approach.
It looks so naturally and fluid, Dobson couldn't even dream of doing an image like that.

I NEED THE HORRIFYING RATING ASAP ;_;

Also: wow. Dobson can't rely on "reference material" and has to do some work on his own? Can't this guy ever get a break!

Oh yes, Bootstrap is wonderful, please do stick around, people really love art and stuff satirizing Dobson!

Speaking of:
dem japs.png

Like, okay, yeah. People should be allowed to have their fetishes imo as long as it's not practiced for real but... fucker, when you get off to women being violently exploded you're the last fucker on the planet who should be criticizing Japan for a weird thing enjoyed by a small minority every Japanese person ever including newborns.

Now criticizing someone for criticizing someone else over a weird fetish when they have a weird fetish themselves? I can do that!

In other news, I've messed with an amazingly simple setting for sketching brushes but it's doing wonders, so maybe I'll be able to do more/better stuff for the thread!

And also it's a case of "other loser trying something new/trying to improve" so haha take that Dobby
