She went in for a phalloplasty, but she had some kind of problem with her veins/arteries. They struggled to get an IV in, and ended up having to discontinue the surgery in the middle of it due to blood flow issues. They completed the vaginectomy, but the phalloplasty was a no-go. From her next posts, it sounds like they were in the process of taking the skin graft from her arm when they ran into the issues.

I wonder what the truth of the matter is. I'm kinda skeptical that the ER was that incompetent - it just doesn't make much sense, and troons often lie to begin with.

At any rate, I guess the point is that these trans surgeries are awful and very risky. But of course, this won't stop troons from wailing about states wanting to outlaw them for minors. 🤦‍♀️

Have any of you noticed? I'm pretty sure MTFs get bottom surgery at a way higher rate than FTMs, but MTFs seem a lot more reluctant to post their result pics compared to FTMs.
If I want to look for more stinkditches, r/Transgender_Surgeries is basically the only place I know of. But for FTM bottom surgery pics, I can go to Transbucket, r/phallo, and r/metoidioplasty.
There is no MTF-focused equivalent of Transbucket (afaik), and there also isn't an r/vaginoplasty (or similar) subreddit.

One of the big triggers for my friend's "peaked"-lefty TERFy wife is that she had some defect in her uterus, and after two complicated pregnancies wanted a hysterectomy and they wouldnt give her one. Only after three more complicated pregnancies did she gets it cut out. But they'll go in on teen and twenty-something Aidens with perfectly healthy (less any T damage I suppose) organs because of muh feels.

Second-hand medical stories are like medical malpractice stories in the media: the medical professionals involved can't legally give any info, so the only sources are variously confused laypeople with a personal stake in the incident, playing up their emotions to the audience.

Anyway, I suspect she presented with bladder pain, then explained to the ED that right before she came in she'd had a suprapubic catheter, just had it yanked, and then a Foley placed emergently.

OK, mystery solved, but ma-sir, may I get a closer look at that bandage? "[M]essing with my arm [...] because there was some dried blood on it" is probably a minimization of just how much blood was visible on the dressing, or there was poor circulation in the hand/some version of vascular steal going on.

I'm surprised the surgical team doesn't assess the graft site long before they put the patient under. I don't know from frankendick, but if you're planning on making a dialysis fistula, it's quick, cheap and painless to do some vessel mapping with ultrasound beforehand, to make sure you have a viable site.

You're on to something with ophthalmology; I'd be more inclined to trust an oculoplastic surgeon to attack my genitals with a scalpel (if I lose a bet or something). You can't hide an uneven eyelift under a spinny skirt, or tell every single patient that it's their own fault and besides their eyelids look PERFECTLY NATURAL.

And doctors, especially in the US, are real afraid of getting sued. But with FTMs, they don’t care! And they’ll take out the ovaries too.

Doctors do not sterilize women under the age of 35 for a lot of reasons:

1. Brain maturity causes hormones to even out somewhat, relieving menstrual cramps, irregular menstrual cycles, excessive mentrual flow and so on - so if you wait until 25, whatever that was pissing you off about down there would resolve and by 35 you won't have it anymore. Hopefully.

2. Premature tubal ligation may cause PCOS, or reverse itself and cause ectopic pregnancies.

3. We're not actually sure what happens long term to a woman without a uterus, but for some reason it seems to trigger high cholesterol and risk of heart failure(?)

The problem with FTMs on hormones is, unlike the testes which straight up produce T, ovaries convert T into oestrogen. It turns cancerous under the strain, and in some cases causes perpetual cramps.

I don't even want to go into the complications a a transman has with pregnancy, but it is pretty gory - everything you've seen in obscure textbooks from vaginal atrophy to incompetent cervix.
