Yep, from all the countries in the world that have social issues, Japan is the one I would tackle. Especially because some guy from over there, might or might not have put a self-castrated transgender with big boobs into one of his games. As we all know, the most important thing in this world is how other countries depict video game characters, who might or might not belong to some kind minority.
Maybe he was making fun of how Japanese people speak english, in wake of Dobby's new found hate of them.
Nah, never explain something with malice, that you can also explain with incompetence...

He already made this argument, almost word-for-word, in one of his old comics about Wii games.

Oh god, not the smug duo again. If Dobson looks down on M-rated games, how does he even enjoy Skyrim & Bayonetta?

I also saw his rant about Japan because of the character Quiet. Go ahead and inaccurately generalize 125 million + people, Dobshit. FFS

It's almost as if he's TRYING to annoy people with his tweets these days. I think it's working :heart-empty:

And unsurprisingly, he's going to act self-righteous and smug when he's called out.
You can just see the precious validation beaming from the screen when Dobson can pretend people 'just don't get him' or misrepresent his oh-so-insightful opinions.

Yes, of course. You're absolutely right - all those bronies comparing MLP to "Game Of Thrones". It's just - well, I'd heard about it, but seeing it up close for the first time, expressed by a man I've been watching pretty closely for several months... Well, it really drives home the sheer stupidity of it all.

UPA cartoons - I've always had a soft spot for them! And "Peace On Earth" - awesome! "Goodwill To Men"* - whatever they are! ;)

*Except Dobson, obviously.

Some cartoons can feature a bit less immature subjects, but it is rare and not really that mature. Just less kiddie pool.

Avatar 2 , Legend of Korra did include "modern, well intentioned extremist" villians for example, instead of the old evil overlord.
The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy spoofs the Cthulhu mythos, Nightmare on Elm street, Hellraiser, etc.

But this doesn't make them into some super deep drama. It isn't Shakespeare. no matter what fedora wearing, horse loving manbabies think.

With Lesbian Kick's sperging, he is showing Peter Pan syndrome to a scary degree. There's nothing wrong with being a kid at heart, as many people are, but Dobson is on a completely different level.

Hey now, a lot of kids are way more mature and well behaved than Nookie bear! Lets say that Dobson is like a special kid at heart, a very special one! :stupid:

Dobbo's latest shitty Patreon update. Warning: Nookie Bear is over the top smug in this.

My favorite Gen 1 was Butterfry.
But wow, take off the nostalgia glasses.

With Dobson's latest sperging about the meany meanhead Japs being oh so insensitive, I quite frankly feel a need to point out a few movies originated from there:

Basically anything Studio Ghibli has ever made, but especially Nausicaa, Mononoke Hime and Laputa.
There's a lot of other things that could be mentioned, but anime is a bit like cheating since there's also anime for grown ups and the line between programms for children and programms for adults get blurred a lot.

Ultimately, I just feld a need to point out one movie:

I watched it once... I dare not watch it again. Goddamnit, Miyazaki... Just... Goddamnit.

Just a minor thing: Grave was directed by Isao Takahata, though Miyazaki was a producer for it iirc.

On a philosophical level, I can appreciate Dobson's call for empathy and compassion. Granted, it's completely discredited by his own actions and lack of introspection, but I'll give him that. Not like he has anything else going for him.

Dobbo did ink and paint work on his Korra drawing and posted it on Patreon just a few minutes ago.

Such strangely drawn feet in the foreground too.
Rough measurements with my fingers suggests that they're too short, only about five heads tall, which makes them look much younger in terms of body. For reference, Korra is normally closer to seven heads tall. Also, their back feet look like they should be overlapping if they had any actual depth to them.

I'm so sick of him just using red and blue for these two, I get wanting to keep the color scheme the same as the show but a little variety would be wonderful, especially if he keeps churning out Korrasami shit.

Yeah I had sworn the actual characters were much taller than this, and another thing that popped out at me were those seemingly oversized legs he drew for these kinds of characters, which I'd also attribute to the weird proportions that he chose. It's really odd.

Can any Kiwis who really know their animation perhaps share examples of cartoons that take "mature" themes - and cover them in a mature way? (Powerlevelling terribly here, but - well, "Ren and Stimpy" was the last cartoon I paid any serious attention to, so I really have no idea what I'm talking about! )
