Funny thing is, there's a Japanese TV show that tackled gender dysphoria. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinpachi-sensei
In 2001, the series helped to rocket Aya Ueto to greater national attention after she portrayed a student with gender identity disorder; Kinpachi made it his mission to teach the class about issues relating to gender identity so as to stop Ueto's character from feeling consistently alienated from his peers.
But it's live action so Dobby probably doesn't care.

He's exasperating.

Dobby wants to chat shit 24/7 and doesn't want people 'harassing' him. Nobody gets to have both. Not even the small, blue, special snowflake.

Americans are so lazy, not like slacktivist Dobby who spends all day every day on Twitter saving the planet one tweet at a time!

Anyone remember Dinosaurs? That addressed a lot of themes in a mature way. The best one was the one where Robbie got addicted to steroids, the moral was 'Stop doing drugs so we can stop with these stupid after school special episodes'.
Actually, the episode where that moral was from had Earl, Robbie and Charline finding an edible plant (an allegory for cannabis) that got them high. It also had Richfield covering Purple Haze after he got high from the plant.

But enough talk about something that was actually good and onto Dobson- The gift that just doesn't know when to stop giving:

Listen here you sad sack of crap, I may not know much about Japanese culture (mostly because I have other things to worry myself over). But people do have a right to portray other cultures the way they damn well want. It's just how the world works. As much as that may suck to some people, there's no changing it. I also just can't wrap my head around how he could literally take a racial joke like "Slap a Jap" unironically.

Yeah, I get it, it's pretty dark. But dude, it's a fucking joke. Then again, considering your previous views on Japanese culture (ie the fact you downright hate anime), I think it's fairly deserved in your case.

You know he'll just sleep on his butt and half-ass it.
That's only assuming he'll ass it at all. Which, given his most recent comics and all, won't happen.

Listen to your senpai, Debu-san.

"Opinions with less information are simply worth less. White people lack the lived experiences of [Japanese] people."

Th bear looks like he's on a weird mix of crack and dope, suffering from severe moodswings.
Sad thing is; I partially agree with Dobson. A lot of times, 'mature' translates to "just include gore and naked tits"... which is incredibly immature. Pretty much like overly violent video-games that are pretty much custom made to be sold to kids far too young to legally buy them on their own. I'm looking in your direction, God of War... But when it boils down to it, the presentation also matters, and while shows like Spongebob sometimes get away with humor clearly directed at an older audience - and otherwise making jokes for the whole family - the presentation still means it's not mature, no matter how it handles its themes.
The Land before Time is a good example. It handles tragic loss of your parent(s) amongst other things (and Don Bluth was a magnificent bastard for the shit he pulled in some of his movies), but you simply can't deny that it's a kids movie. Same with "Up". It handles a few quite heavy to swallow themes and does so well... but that doesn't make it a mature movie. It only makes it a kid-friendly movie with mature themes. Basically, a kids movie that doesn't talk down to kids. That's all.
Dobby tries to insinuate that 'mature movies' aren't mature. He's right about that. He wants to say that some supposed kids movies handle these themes better. That's also correct. But where he goes astray is where he tries to insinuate that it's more mature to watch kids movies. Cause you just know that's the point he wants to make, to defend his fondness for teenage lesbians in cartoons.
A show that I already once mentioned, Wakfu, has one of the best villains I've seen in a tv show in a very long time... and it's choke full with innuendos, the likes of which american audiences can't even dream of... but those two aspects don't make it a 'mature show'.

Be that as it may, holy BAJESUS. What's wrong with that Powerpuff Girl, what the fuck happened to the cast of Spongebob, what happened to ... well, the other characters I don't give a crap about? Dobby didn't even get close to make one even remotely look like the original. How do you fuck up a character design as straightforward as Plankton? Also 5 Internetbucks say that Pokemon is traced.

Also, off chance that "butterfry" is not a mistake and is supposed to be some sort of "random access humor"?

All based on a rumor he saw online.
Granted, Japan does have a few problems with these types of things, but Dobson would be more endearing in his call to action if he wasn't such a cunt about it.
Ah, where do I start?
Well, there's a certain anniversary coming up in exactly 2 weeks and Dobson is speaking about America holding Japan accountable for something...
But the anniversary being just right around the corner is just a minor coincidence... it's not like it wouldn't be any less tasteful at any other time.

The more important issue: Dobs made a comic about Quiet's design and bitched and moaned about a girl being depicted that way. He did this twice, one time with the design, one time with the figurine. Even back then people (like me) thought about the hilarious possibilitiy that Quiet's actually a mtf transsexual.
Now, Dobby has found out about that theory and blows a fuse, why? If you ask me, cause that's the only way to save face. Nothing more.
What's wrong Dobby. I thought "representation matters". Oh wait, that was half a year ago, so it's not true anymore.

Dobson cares because Brianna Wu cares
And if Brianna cares about something then Dobbie bear wants Brianna to know he cares

And Dobsons tweet cant be racist cause its Dobson....everyone else is racially insensitive.
All Dobbie managed to do is get me more Hyped for Phantom Pain.
If Brianna Wu spoke up against Quiet's design as a MtF transperson, I'd say he was just jealous Quiet doesn't have a shovel-shaped manjaw.

Honestly, I fell like Dobsy does have a point about the whole "Mature mean guts and sex" thing. But he bungled it up completely. Especially with the art. Tan skin Mickey with dot eyes, a traced Butterfree and honestly, I can't tell who's uglier here- Dobbo, SpongeBob or Littlefoot. Cut my losses and go for all three, perhaps?

Also I get the feeling he really doesn't know, or care enough, to even get Butterfree's name right.

Can any Kiwis who really know their animation perhaps share examples of cartoons that take "mature" themes - and cover them in a mature way? (Powerlevelling terribly here, but - well, "Ren and Stimpy" was the last cartoon I paid any serious attention to, so I really have no idea what I'm talking about! )
With Dobson's latest sperging about the meany meanhead Japs being oh so insensitive, I quite frankly feel a need to point out a few movies originated from there:

Basically anything Studio Ghibli has ever made, but especially Nausicaa, Mononoke Hime and Laputa.
There's a lot of other things that could be mentioned, but anime is a bit like cheating since there's also anime for grown ups and the line between programms for children and programms for adults get blurred a lot.

Ultimately, I just feld a need to point out one movie:
tumblr_n9p0swCjtC1tic1guo2_1280.jpg

I watched it once... I dare not watch it again. Goddamnit, Miyazaki... Just... Goddamnit.

I kinda wanna sit Dobson down and make him watch Madoka Magica. Maybe the inner manchild in him will compel him to watch it when he sees all how bright and cheery and goddamned Colorful it is, then I'll sit down and record his reactions to Episode 3.

Or he'll eternally fap to this frame of the opening:
