Did the driver not hear or see that a plane was coming? Those things are fucking loud and its coming in from an angle, it should be low enough for him to see it in advance?

I didn't watch the "kid being crushed by a elevator" one pages back, I don't really want to see a kid being crushed or how he gets crushed. The thumbnail on it was all I need to see. But does he really get crushed flat or something?

People have TERRRIBLE situational awareness really. And you factor in the unexpected factor from the plane fall, it's not hard to imagine.
The vid was not a gory mess. My guess it's that it crushed him a bit until the elevator stopped because of the jam. Nasty stuff.

It was probably near an airfield, that fence on the other side of the street looks like it might be the edge of one, and wasn't unusual for the area. Plus it looks like it is in a steep dive which would could be hard to see from a vehicle.

I know of a person in las Vegas that shot at a crowd indiscriminately which is not a daily occurrence south of the border where public mass shootings aren't much of a thing. The same thing also in nightclubs. Also in cinemas. Also in schools. And come on, not everywhere in South America is a Cartel fight or a Brazilian Favela.
