That conversation is "gaslighting". If it wants to lecture, it does so badly. And since grooming has come into the equation - there is something in the air now, regarding the blind spots of the gender fluid fairy tale. Since the comics are unfunny anyway, they could do better.
Of course, there can be lots of transgender people who you feel completely "safe" to be with in the bathroom. But there still are perverts out there, and a feeling of unsafety might occur. Not out of hysteria, but out of a gut feeling, that might be worth listening to and reacting upon.
The problem at hand could have been depicted with a more empathetic and less condescending reaction of the grown-up. If the author took the cis-girl as serious as their transgender person. Not assuming, that there never can be a threat, unless it's with a weapon. The girl is not taken seriously and not really asked, what they perceived. There are no concerns regarding the dirty old men dressing in women's clothes, spying at girls in bathrooms (or asking for help with their diaper change or whatever).
Since the comic is aimed at trans persons in the making: They can feel superior towards the dumb hysterical neglible cis-girl. If these feel uncomfortable, that's not a problem. They have to overcome their boundaries. The comfort of the trans person is superior. Could this be any more awkward?
There is a wedge between the two. And seemingly only the feelings of the transperson are valid enough to be taken seriously. Although nobody comes at them with a weapon at the moment, either.

This comic is awful because the issue it claims doesn't exist has happened and continues to happen. It's denial of reality to not hurt feelings.

Trans people in bathrooms is frowned on not because people hate trannies, but because nothing can stop a sexual predator from claiming to be transgender and hiding behind that status to pursue their prey. But I'm sure Labelle thinks it's "transphobic" not to allow trannies access to children.
