Daisy Ridley Isn’t Here For Ted Cruz’s Dig at Rey

Rey looks over her shoulder in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Ted Cruz just keeps picking losing battles, and this time, he tried to take on Rey Skywalker, and it didn’t work out to well for him. In his random defense of Gina Carano’s Cara Dune, Ted decided to drag the other women of Star Wars into it. Bringing down Princess Leia, Padmé Amidala, and Rey is … a choice, and a bad one, but this is Ted Cruz we’re talking about, so …

When Ridley was asked by Yahoo’s Kevin Polowy about it, Ridley didn’t hold back on how ridiculous she found Cruz’s comment about Rey.

“I am very happy to be an emotionally tortured Jedi… who doesn’t leave their state when it’s having a terrible time,” Ridley said in response and also continued to mock Cruz for going to Cancún when his state of Texas was in the middle of a national crisis.

And here’s the thing: I hate the comparison of the women of Star Wars. I’m tired of anyone pitting female characters against each other. It’s exhausting, and it also shows that Ted Cruz doesn’t know anything about the franchise to begin with. He diminished Princess Leia to “a princess” and left out the fact that Leia is the reason Han and Luke even survived A New Hope—or the fact that she constantly saved the galaxy as a general.

He called Padmé a victim because her husband betrayed her and tried to kill her, and she died as a result of Anakin’s actions. (Look, I have my problems with the “broken heart” storyline, but Ted doesn’t care about that.) So why is she just a victim and why not bring up the fact that she’s a senator?

Daisy Ridley is right. She said she would rather play this “emotionally tortured Jedi” than abandon people when they need help the most. I’d much rather look up to Rey than someone who thinks that masks are somehow infringing on our freedoms (when all they’re doing is protecting us).

No matter how many times I wish for Ted Cruz to shut up, he just keeps talking, but I like when people like Daisy Ridley drag Cruz for his nonsense because, when it comes down to it, I’d always rather be the strong and powerful Rey than anything Ted Cruz deems “worthy” of his approval.

lol. Also everyone play Lego Skywalker Saga.

I'm pretty sure that if Luke and Han didn't blow up the Death Star, Leia, and the moon she was standing on, would have been blown to pieces...in A New Hope.

But far be it from me to get in the way of a snide, petty cunt living her dream of 'dunking' on Ted Cruz from the peanut gallery of a blog that he likely doesn't even know exists.
Leia >>>> Ted Cruz

Actually Leia >>>> Rey Sue

For all the reasons that Disney Star Wars was a steaming wet dump, at least half of them were related to Rey. And while I'm all for the whole 'hate the character, not the actor' thing, given that Daisy's basically helped spearhead both the 'Force is Female' and 'you just hate Rey bcus stronk wahmen' movements I'd have no problem believing Rey's most Sue-y moments were probably her idea.

I still can't get it how SW prequels/sequels can be talked about in any other way than to discuss how much those suck, and how disappointing it was to watch them. for fucks sake, the main story of TLJ is basically empire ships in a glacially slow "chase" of rebels, waiting till they run out of spacefuel. The b plot is protagonists trying to save the rebellion from being wiped out any minute now, but despite time pressure, they take a detour to free some random caged animals they just learned about, and their effort is foiled because they had parked illegally. It ends up with rebellion reduced to like 12 people, and yet everyone "cheering" for this amazing victory. Someone wrote this and actually thught "this shit is a worthy addition to a franchise beloved by tens of millions of people". Literally more effort has been spent designing pogs and that ball robot so they can maximize toy sales afterwards, than for the actual movie plot.

I like how the author of this "article" ended it with a plug for a video game. Just consoom product and get excited for next product

They did "thunk" at all. Kathleen Kennedy, the architect of Sequels, farmed out all the movies to different directors with no cohesive plot, timeline, or functional story but let the writer/director do all the heavy lifting and she rubber stamped it all. Disney let her do whatever she wanted to do because Star Wars prints money, at that time, so the less they had to do to recoup their $4Billion investment (which they still haven't to this day) the better. After the box office's diminishing returns at the fan's saying "WTF is this Shit?" not even the SJW blue hairs can get in the way of the real killer of Hollywood ideals: Earnings Per Share.

The only thing of the sequels I'm sad on was that Rogue One wasn't R-rated as it should have been and been much longer. That movie had promise, wasn't great, but it was so close to being GOOD.

Star Wars is gay in part because of how intertwined with politics it now is. It's a fucking glorified toy commercial for fucks sake
If only, that would still be exciting, toys have to have accessories like blasters and ships, so those will get shown in the film in exciting sequences, right?

Nope, Soy Wars is a glorified WOKE STRUGGLE SESSION, the toys exist, but exist in defiance and ignorance of what the characters they represent actually say and do.... the dumbass execs at Disney thought you'd buy an action figure of a character whose defining trait is never losing because of girl power and mystical Mary Sue force powers never before seen..... and the supporting characters are flat and annoying, they don't do anything but either make her look good by being lamer or just telling them how awesome they are on-screen.

Chewie was cool because he was Han's copilot and the team's hired muscle when needed, what is the allure of a sidekick that only ups the diversity of the group (and isn't seen in China) ?

Luke and Vader action figures back in the day had lightsabers so they could play-fight, not so kids could make them put them down and kiss.... that's how bad it's gotten. You don't buy the toys to play with them anymore, you buy them to SUPPORT THE "PLATFORM" so it can keep spreading it's message. That's not what 12 year old kids want from their toys. Which is why they go unsold, nobody wants a figure with nothing but pink-hair action. Except maybe dangerhairs themselves, but it's well established they don't have money and even if they do, they'd rather keep it dangling on the end of a string in front of Disney's social media page and say "still not enough, but if you made them even MORE woke, I might..." than spend it.

It's like the marketers and writers never talked to each other once during the whole new trilogy, and considering what's come out the grapevine, that's entirely possible.

TL : DR - Disney's execs thought their magic commercial-strength pixie dust was more powerful than get woke go broke.... it wasn't.
