I can believe it, that they claim to believe things are this way. It's cynical of them and wishful thinking on their part. They wish there was some real "attack on America" so that their lives would be more exciting (and possess some kind of meaning). The overlap between these people trying to make "1/6" a thing like "9/11" and people who want to act like Covid is the Rage Virus from 28 Days Later must be near 100%. It's all just political hackery.
All but the dullest of the dull know that these idiots who went and fucked around in the Capitol Building were maybe going to break some shit, take selfies and generally be stupid. No one who possesses the intelligence required to qualify as more than a potato thinks that some morons in Pepe shirts and MAGA hats were going to clap AOC's brown cheeks or sit Chuck Schumer down and force him to watch one of his piggish cousin's Netflix specials as if they were making a 50th anniversary sequel to A Clockwork Orange. No one on either side truly believes that they were trying to somehow "take over the country" or that they even remotely had a chance. To circle back to cynicism, they sure all know that acting like it was some 9/11 style even is worth its weight in gold. Stop complaining about the Summer of Floyd, though. That was just rage being expressed and AutoZone deserved it.
