Robert E. Lee was an honorable man put to a terrible choice. He was a citizen of both the United States and Virginia, at a time where your home state was basically your land. He had a choice of fighting for the Union (and if he had the war would have been over decisively in the Union's favor very quickly) or for Virginia. But if he chose the Union he would be committing treason against Virginia. And if he chose Virginia, he would be committing treason against the Union.Robert E. Lee was a sort of hero though, for sure by today's standards (admittedly low standards). At the least he was a leader of men and an honorable man himself.
We all know what he chose, but none of the Know-Nothings of the SJW left seem to give a fuck about the why. I mean fuck moral complexity or context or understanding.
Fuck ripping down statues of that guy.
