They had that angle covered too, which is making them getting wrecked by Reddit even more painful.
Since they had 40% more stock shorted than existed, they were aware they'd need to buy the stock they just handed over in the short. They would have a few days to fulfill the order. They had (in broad terms) options on their shorts that expected an uptick in price before they could fully deliver on their short order and paid out when it went up, essentially betting against themselves. Since they cannot fulfill the shorts, and once they are able to the price is likely to go down, they are set up get reamed on the shorts and then getting fully destroyed on their options based on short performance.

I am very pro-captialist and generally pretty pro-banker. I don't think the rich need eaten or w/e. Lots of people got rich with effort. Lots of people got rich with what boils down to a little effort and a lot of luck. Lots of people who didn't do any work and just inherited money still use that money (or hire people to use that money) for productive ends. And shorting stocks has a legitimate place in the market.
But these hedgefund fucks aren't even trading. They are 100% just going to the casino with other people's money - your money. (And the 2009 'quantitative easing' bailout showed us, even if you aren't in the market, its still your money.) Doing shithouse swaps and making performance based instruments with no actual basis on real value. They are fucking parasites and I feel the same joy watching them get wrecked that I feel watching any blood sucking creature getting wrecked.

I have to think a huge chunk of the SJW audience fucking secretly admired/looked up to Umbridge. Because deep down, Umbridge is who they fucking aspire to be once it becomes crystal clear they'll never be Hermione or Harry. Middle management dead egg femcels who can no longer have kids, can't get a husband so they are all about their career and the power they possess to hurt others who they deem evil, because that's the only joy they can gain in life since they've convinced themselves they are the good guys even as they actively collaborate and torture for monsters like Voldemort.
Penders is doing this in a DESPERATE DESPERATE DESPERATE bid to get his maggoty hands on Sonic the Hedgehog again, given that IDW Comics now has the Sonic license and is run by people who have done their damnest with their anti-life woke bullshit, to destroy every single male centric Hasbro toy property Hasbro has. Him going full tilt SJW death kultist on Twitter is his plan b, after Sonic fandom rightfully told him to fuck off and die when his first plan (try and weaponize Sonic fandom to force IDW to fire the guy who replaced him that was brought over to run the IDW Sonic comics backfired in his fat maggot face) backfired in his face due to him retardedly thinking that fans would be his personal army given that Penders is the reason WHY Archie lost the license in the first place and caused the old Archie continuity (and SatAM continuity) to be forever erased/declared off-limit going forward.

To be fair, in this specific case, it doesn’t take any insider training or media manipulation to know that Gamestop is probably dead in a year or two. What with the hard shutdowns in some stores and the strong push to digital sales for games, they’re going the way of Blockbuster.

I'll admit, Archie sonic was what got me back into comics (sold most of them off awhile back though) and had dropped out long before this so...
WHAT? I knew the comics went to IDW - which seemed odd when Megaman/Sonic looked like a hit - so the news archie is now locked up and not to be touched is mind blowing. (then again, I am trying to figure out why Firefly went from Dark horse to Boom)

Pender was a huge fucking asshole to work with, wrote stories where Knuckle's people were the center of the universe and created a convoluted family tree of recolor OCs of Knuckles that turned out to be from rejected sci-fi novels that Penders wrote that he could never get published without changing details to make them Sonic stories.
Archie had enough of his shit so they fired him and replaced him with Ian Flynn. Penders was utterly butt-hurt, especially since he realized that he fucked up HUGE by using his creator owned work as Sonic stories, meaning he no longer owned them. Furthermore, he knew a big secret: Archie had lost nearly all of their original copies of their work for hire contracts and just had copies of them on file, after a move to a new corporate HQ. Which the court decided, when it came out, wasn't good enough to prove Penders agreed to such a deal.
So Penders sued Archie to gain ownership of ALL Of his work for hire creations for Archie, which led to a lengthy and messy legal fight where Archie's secret about losing the original contracts came out in public. Eventually Sega got tired with the legal drama and ordered Archie to settle with Penders to make him go away, because Sega has LONG been upset that fans preferred the comic exclusive characters and SatAm Sonic supporting cast members over the Sega created/approved supporting characters. The full details of the settlement were never revealed, but after it happened ALL of Echindas that Penders made were imprisoned for eternity in a prison dimension and during a Mega Man/Sonic crossover, Ian Flynn did a soft reboot which basically allowed him to pretend EVERYTHING Penders wrote never happened, as apparently Archie agreed to pay Penders if they ever use his creations. And Sega ominously told Archie if another similar lawsuit was filed, they'd yank the license from them.
But this wasn't what Penders fully wanted: he wanted Ian fired and himself restored to sole writer of Sonic with it "understood" he would never be fired again. Hence why early in the lawsuits, Penders made it clear he would make his lawsuit go away (and in doing so, keep Archie out of the position of having to publicly admit to having lost the original WFH contracts and open themselves up to additional Penders type suits) if they would just fire Flynn and hire him back for life to run Sonic for them.
So when Penders saw that Archie would just wipe out/unperson his material than keep using it AND he had failed in his actual goal (blackmail his way back into the company), Penders had a crony of his who also worked on Sonic to file a similar lawsuit. Which triggered Sega HARD and resulted in them telling Archie it was over and that they were not renewing the license and moving the Sonic book to IDW. Thankfully Ian was on good terms with Sega at the time, so he was invited to join them at IDW, but consequences was severe to say the least.
For you see, for DECADES, Sega wanted to purge the SatAm Freedom Fighters from canon and never allow them to be used again. But Archie was able to defy Sega by pointing out that their license started out as one that was based on the 90s cartoon, meaning the Freedom Fighters were part of it and that they could keep using them as long as they wanted, Sega be damned. With the license now lapsed however, Sega now had the ability to bar IDW from using ANY of the Freedom Fighter characters, let alone characters created by Archie writers, only Sega created supporting cast members. They also used the move to severe the Gordian Knot that Archie Sonic had become by demanding Ian reboot Sonic from the ground up into Sega's image. Meaning the old continuity is permanently dead and gone.

I knew about the knuckles stuff (quite enjoyed his run actually) but had no idea about this reject sci-fi stuff.
That... explains a few things.
Not that Ian is much better. I saw some of the shipping shit that went on under his run.
This news is also... interesting. Especially as the Archie comics usually worked hard to incorporate the Sonic games into their canon - even if it went pear-shaped or made absolutely no fucking sense.
Though given some of the latter sonic games stories (though it seems to have finally turned around) I'm not sure Sega's characters were much of an improvement.
